Join me as I take a flight from Japan to the U.S. with American Airlines' business class, exploring the perks, quirks, and friendly skies!
Flying with American Airlines can be an experience filled with expectations, especially if you're taking the leap into business class on the Boeing 787-8. Travelling from Japan to the U.S., I had the opportunity to test out Flagship Business class and let me tell you, my excitement was as high as the altitude! From plush seating to gourmet dining, I was ready for a luxurious ride. However, while the service was friendly and the amenities decent, I found myself wondering if this business class really lived up to its lofty title.
The early departure was a double-edged sword; while it promised a head start on the journey, it also meant that I had to drag myself out of bed before dawn, something I am not a fan of. Luckily, the American Airlines crew greeted me with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere, making the ordeal a bit more bearable. Settling into the spacious seat was a relief, and next came the meals—let's just say the culinary options were a hit or miss, but I managed to find a couple of tasty dishes that hit the spot. Overall, it felt more like staying in a decent hotel rather than experiencing the heights of luxury
As the flight progressed, I took time to assess the in-flight entertainment. With a wide selection of films, TV shows, and games, I was thoroughly entertained, although a tad more modernity would’ve been appreciated in terms of user experience. Just like my journey, the entertainment had its ups and downs. However, the focus on comfort kept me relaxed for most of the flight. If you’ve ever flown on a long-haul flight, you know the importance of keeping your sense of humour intact, and believe me, there were plenty of chuckles even up in the clouds!
Closing in on our destination, I couldn’t help but reflect on the overall experience. American Airlines offers decent business class seating—keeping all your essentials at arm's length while providing a level of comfort that’s quite commendable. Would I say it broke any records? Probably not, but it was certainly a good flight that served its purpose. Business class may sometimes be overhyped, but flying with AA keeps you entertained and, most importantly, feeling welcomed.
