A powerful 7.1 quake rattles Kyushu, triggering tsunami warnings and plenty of internet chatter!

On Thursday, a powerful magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck off the southern coast of Japan, sending shockwaves through the area and triggering a tsunami advisory. The tremors, felt widely, prompted authorities to issue warnings for coastal regions, particularly Miyazaki Prefecture, which has a population of around 400,000 people. Thankfully, reports so far have shown no immediate signs of significant damage, but residents were urged to stay vigilant as precautionary measures were put into place.

The quake struck at 3:43 PM local time in the Hyuganada Sea, sending registries on the Richter scale into a frenzy. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that the quake registered a lower 6 on the Japanese seismic scale, making it a notable event in an already volatile region known for its seismic activity. This region is frequently shaken by lesser quakes, but a 7.1 magnitude event is no common occurrence, leaving residents and authorities on high alert as they monitored the situation closely.
