Police Scotland say Murrell 'arrested as a suspect' as officers search addresses thought to include his and Sturgeon's home.
In a statement, the SNP said: “Clearly it would not be appropriate to comment on any live police investigation but the SNP have been co-operating fully with this investigation and will continue to do so. “The SNP has fully cooperated with the investigation, and it will continue to do so,” he said. “The man is in custody and is being questioned by Police Scotland detectives.
The husband of former first minister Nicola Sturgeon has been arrested in connection with an investigation into Scottish National Party finances.

Last year it emerged Mr Murrell gave a loan of more than £100,000 to the SNP to help it out with a "cash flow" issue after the last election.
