The Knights had their third when Young scored the first of his two opening-half tries in a smooth right-edge attacking play, before the Sea Eagles did the same on a short-side blitz for Brad Parker to dot down. The hosts had two in the opening 10 minutes to Haumole Olakau'atu and Christian Tuipulotu. Young scored the pick of Saturday's 12 tries earlier in the second half when he skipped down the right edge inside his half and after passes between Miller, Hastings and Tyson Frizell, the rangy winger crossed for his third. Tigers humiliated in unwanted 54-year first (NEWS.com.au)

The Wests Tigers have made unwanted history after being handed a fifth straight loss to start the 2023 season, crushed 46-12 by the Brisbane Broncos.

Tonight was the first one we were never a chance to win. “So the effort was still there. It’s just the fifth time in club history the Broncos have been 5-0 with the 1998 unbeaten run ending at 5-0, the 1995 and 1997 Super League seasons going to 7-0 and the 1996 season reaching a club record 8-0 before their first losses. Tonight was a game that made many fans and pundits nervous given the team’s recent history against the Tigers. We went out to win the second half — that’s all you can do when you’re behind and 12-all until that last try. It got sloppy at the back end, but Brisbane never relented

Alex Twal starts at prop with Stefano Utoikamanu switching to the bench. “I think he has got his game in the sweet spot. “The Cobbo try in the first half summed them up. He has the ingredients around him. “He said during the week he is seeing things clearly and he does a lot of work and he knows what he needs to do and he never steps outside that box. He is the puppet master at the moment and he is pulling all the right strings. “The Tigers’ inability to be on the same page both with and without the ball is mind-blowing at the moment,” Cronk said. Cooper Cronk believes Adam Reynolds is playing the best rugby league of his career after he led the Broncos to their fifth straight win to start the season. Staggs scored his double after a another pinpoint grubber from Reynolds to put the icing on the cake of a big win as the Broncos cemented top spot and the Tigers cemented bottom. “He is in the picture there is no doubt,” Cronk said.

Brilliant Broncos heap more Payne on winless Tigers (NRL.COM)

The Broncos continued their unbeaten start to the season with a blistering 46-12 win over Wests Tigers at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.

His direction of the play, his choice of when to kick and when to run. I still think with an even share of possession we've still got the team to win some games but we have stop making those simple errors in the first 20 minutes that break their hearts. Payne Haas was all but unstoppable in his opening 31-minute stint, making 114 metres from 12 runs and scoring a freakish try in the 20th minute that showcased all his athleticism, skill and power. They are just stats, we need to keep going, I can feel it amongst them, they're a really good group of fellas and they just want to keep going and keep getting better. They opened their 2022 account on Easter Monday against the Eels and will be hoping for a similar result in Round 6. "I'm really pleased for everyone involved with the club [that we have started 5-0], particularly the players because they are the ones working the hardest, physically and mentally.
