From a gothic popstar to a giant Korean teddy bear with laser eyes, it's deliciously dark and we can't wait to get a taste of it this June in Hobart.

Back and bigger than ever, Night Mass: Exstasia will be Dark Mofo’s late-night event taking over three city blocks to create a sprawling metropolis of artworks, performances, cocktail lounges, punk theatre and cinema cabarets. It wouldn’t be Dark Mofo without a baptism of fire (and water) to herald in the winter. This year's festival will be a reflection of the past decade, and while much has changed, our desire to celebrate the longest nights and embrace winter in Tasmania hasn’t wavered. Attendance is a must – program to be announced soon. The oscillator-twiddling intensity ratchets up with the return of Berlin Atonal: Laterne, presented by the long-running German party progenitors of all things experimental and rave. Now in its 10th year, Dark Mofo returns to Nipaluna/Hobart in June for a two-week stint of dedicated debauchery. And then there’s the official bi-weekend after-party event, Night Mass. General tickets on sale Wednesday 5 April at 2pm. Subscriber tickets go on sale Wednesday 5 April at midday. Time your comedown to happen at Behold The Wonder, a winter solstice night performance by the Adelaide Chamber Singers, inspired by Hildegard of Bingen, 11th century Benedictine abbess and composer. “While visitors can expect old favourites, we also have a few new surprises to unfurl. Judging by the programs’ abundance of new commissions, an expanded Night Mass party (which Carmichael claims will be "Dark Mofo’s wildest party in our 10-year history”), the return of the all-ages Dark Park, eight nights of Winter Feast, a massive music program and a revived decadent masquerade ball, Carmichael is leaving the receipts for next year’s as-yet-unnamed replacement. “The last few years have been challenging, and heavily impacted by Covid, so to finally be in a position to again release a full two-week festival program feels overwhelming,” Carmichael said in a statement.
