Michael Jordan receives the film treatment from a business perspective in the film "Air," which chronicles the story of how he landed at Nike.
But the cast deserves praise for finding the humor, passion and heart in the scene. It allows him to create a crowd pleaser. In fact, there’s not an actor who participates in the gathering that will decide Michael Jordan’s marketing fate who is off balance. But it’s equally the tale of mother trying to do what is absolutely right by her son. The film, which centers on Nike’s basketball division pre-M.J. Review of Air, the new Ben Affleck movie that stars Matt Damon as the man who tried to sign Michael Jordan to Nike.
Air is a fun boardroom caper about one of the greatest deals in sporting history. But it’s strange watching a movie about sport, in which there’s barely a glimpse at the athlete around which the story revolves. Which adds tension and suspense to proceedings as the big meet approaches. But Convery’s script is cleverly structured, so that via an emotionally charged conversation at the end of the movie, Air reveals what it was really about all along. Even though the guys are in their Nike offices and could probably afford to turn the lights on. Viola Davis plays Michael’s mother Deloris Jordan, and she becomes key, not only to Sonny securing the signature of her son, but also to the film working. The potential arrival of Jordan means the demand is now there, and the way in which he rises to the occasion is both hilarious and inspiring. And it only gets tougher from there, as the next blocker is Michael’s mom. Sports agent David Falk – played with foul-mouthed intensity by Chris Messina – is the first defensive guard standing in Vaccaro’s way. Michael Jordan is the immovable object – a basketball prodigy who has just signed for the Chicago Bulls, and only wants to wear Adidas sneakers when he plays. Followed by him heading home via a stopover in Las Vegas where we see another side of the character, winning big by betting on basketball, then losing even bigger on dice. Ben Affleck’s new movie – which he both directs and stars in – puts these two men on a collision course with incredibly high stakes.

Ben Affleck appeared on Jimmy Kimmel's show Tuesday night and attempted to squash the host's "feud" with Matt Damon.
“We’re talking, and it’s a little bit uncomfortable, and all the sudden you go, … “Honest to God, it would mean a lot to me if you would just ask him one question about the movie. "Sad Affleck" became a meme for a while, though Affleck would come to receive a lot of praise for his work as Batman in subsequent films; he'll reprise the role one last time in the upcoming movie The Flash. Kimmel had attended the party with his family and agreed that Affleck didn't seem to be enjoying the occasion at the time.

The actor is clearing up the most “common misconception” about him following that viral Grammys moment with wife Jennifer Lopez.

Ben Affleck told Jimmy Kimmel that he knows people often think he looks unamused or disinterested, explaining that his resting face appears "very unhappy."
I leaned into her and I was like, ‘As soon they start rolling, I’m going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor.’ She goes, ‘You better f------ not leave.’ That’s a husband-and-wife thing.” However, he did note that Affleck complained about how much their Christmas tree cost. “I thought it’d be fun! The moment was captured on camera and sparked several memes about how it looked like he'd [rather be at his favorite coffee shop, Dunkin',](https://www.today.com/popculture/awards/ben-affleck-grammys-reactions-dunkin-donuts-rcna69248) over the award show. Ben Affleck stars as Nike co-founder Phil Knight in the movie, "Air," and told Jimmy Kimmel he wanted to include humor, but "It didn't seem that funny" when ...
“I tried to be funny” playing Knight, he said, then added that “it didn’t seem that funny when he was in the room.” That led into a bit in which Affleck noted that Kimmel wasn’t talking about Damon, Affleck’s friend and collaborator on such projects as “Good Will Hunting,” which won both actors an Oscar for best original screenplay. Knight, Affleck said, seemed to be remembering a time in his life that was kind of a romantic period, where things hadn’t yet all come together, and you’re still risking something. “Look, he’s an interesting guy,” Affleck said, going on to say that, when you work some place, “you kind of want to make fun of the boss. Once that was over, Kimmel played a clip from “Air,” in which Affleck’s Knight responds to Damon, as Vaccaro, who suggests the brand name “Air Jordan.” Affleck’s Knight looks unimpressed, and says maybe the name will grow on him. The movie, Affleck said, is set in about 1984, “at a time when the company was an underdog,” and “it was a bunch of friends kind of crashing into each other, and various ideas, trying to put something together, and arguing and debating.” “And you’re there with your friends....He seemed really moved by it.” Knight noted that, “of course, you got a lot wrong,” Affleck said, but the movie is “not a documentary.” As Kimmel and the audience laughed, Affleck said, “And I thought, like, maybe the thing to do is just run.” On a less comical note, Affleck said, Knight was “remarkably gracious.” That’s just part of it.” In contemplating Knight, Affleck said, he thought it was funny that Knight is “sort of Buddhist, but he’s a capitalist.” And for the sake of the narrative in “Air,” Affleck said, “there has to be somebody kind of pressuring against this deal.” “Honor and respect to Phil, and what he did, and making this deal, and his bravery and the importance of Nike,” Affleck said, “but it was fun.” The movie is funny, Affleck continued. Affleck said, “I was very, very confident” in how Knight is characterized in “Air,” “right up to the point where they were, like, ‘We think you should go up to Oregon, and show Nike the movie, and show Phil.’ And I was, like, ‘Sure, terrific.’ And then I went up there, I flew up to Oregon, and then I went up to the theater, and all of a sudden, I felt like the guy who’s been sent in to negotiate with Isis.”

So in the off-chance that WB changed its mind and decided to keep it in the movie after all, the following might contain spoilers: “I finally figured out how to play the guy,” continued Affleck. For someone who has appeared in multiple superhero movies over the last two decades, Affleck shows a surprising lack of discretion here. Which is probably why Affleck had no reservations about describing Gal Gadot’s cameo as Wonder Woman in semi-vivid detail while appearing on [Smartless](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ben-affleck/id1521578868?i=1000605884098) this week. Hollywood actor Ben Affleck says he has a naturally 'unhappy' face after pictures of him looking miserable at the Grammy Awards went viral.
Ben Affleck has become a meme for his resting face before, but he insists it's just the way he is, and he's actually having a good time.
During that same award show, cameras managed to capture what appeared to be a terse moment between Affleck and Lopez, but he also cleared that up at the time, stating it was just a rogue moment where the cameras picked up an out-of-context conversation which, strangely enough, was to do with talk show host Trevor Noah. Recently, after the Grammys controversy, Affleck had to confirm again that he was – in actual truth – having fun. However, speaking to Jimmy Kimmel on his talk show, the Gone Girl star said it’s a ‘common misconception’ that he isn’t having fun. [50-year-old actor and director](https://www.ladbible.com/entertainment/reasonstowatchair-600512-20230329) has become an internet meme on a number of occasions for his uninspiring facial expressions, most recently at the Grammys, where he really seemed to be having a bit of an existential crisis. However, he never seems to be having that great a time. Ben Affleck has addressed his ‘unhappy-looking’ face that sometimes sees him become a meme because he looks like he’s really not having a good time.
