Mr Davidson said it was possible a lightning strike from a severe storm that swept across the region could have triggered the fire. Mr Davidson said it was also terrible news for his customers, including couples who were hoping to get married at the winery in the coming days and weeks.

Crews from the state's Rural Fire Service took about four-and-a-half hours to bring the fire at Tamburlaine...

The blaze is believed to have begun in the kitchen before it spread to other buildings. Investigations will investigate the cause of the fire once authorities are able to get inside the wreckage, but it has been suggested a lightning storm may have caused an electrical fault inside the building. More than 50 fire crews rushed to tackle the blaze at the venue at McDonalds Road in Pokolbin, taking about four-and-a-half hours to bring it under control.
