The new trailer for the live-action Little Mermaid film, starring Halle Bailey, gives audiences a closer look at Ursula, King Triton, and Prince Eric.
While the first teaser showcased Ariel and her showstopping number, the new trailer gives us a better look at some of the major players in Ariel's story and centers around her desire to be a part of the surface world. In addition, the film will also feature Art Malik as Prince Eric's butler Grimsby. And now, with the film only a handful of months away, Disney has finally released the first proper trailer that gives audiences a better look at Ariel's underwater world.

“It was an inspiring and beautiful thing to hear their words of encouragement, telling me, ‘You don’t understand what this is doing for us, for our community, for all the little Black and brown girls who are going to see themselves in you,’” Bailey said. “Things that seem so small to everyone else, it’s so big to us.” The soundtrack is created by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken (who wrote the score for the 1989 “Little Mermaid” film) and will feature classics from the original movie in addition to four original songs.
Halle Bailey leads an all-star cast of Melissa McCarthy, Javier Bardem, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and Daveed Diggs as crab Sebastian.
For one, we actually see Ariel rescue Eric from a shipwreck, which looks way more fiery and intense than the original movie. And the big question we have is... The film is set to open in theaters May 26. Repeating a classic line from the Disney animated original, she adds, "It's what I live for."
