But if the look on Marienne's face reveals anything, it's that she isn't done with this story of Joe and probably won't let his newfound fame continue if she has anything to do with it. The police will think it was Eddie that killed Rhys and then Nadia killed Eddie because of it – but Nadia has been set up for murder. But when recounting the story, Nadia and Eddie realise that Joe is such an obsessive that he would collect souvenirs of his past victims so they set off to his flat in the hope of getting evidence. Joe has killed him and in her daze, hands the knife (murder weapon) to Nadia. The tub of pills Joe had left in the cage previously were swapped round with some of the tablets Nadia got from Eddie, all in order to stage a suicide. He narrates that with the help of Kate, a cybersecurity team, publicists and Tom's former lieutenant Cynthia, search results have been scrubbed, news archives have been hacked and the Madre Linda chief of police was bribed all in order to allow Joe to wipe the slate clean. We also catch a glimpse of Rhys in the window reflection and as Joe says he's just "more honest" about killing now, season 4 ends with a positively eerie image of a grinning Joe, as smug as ever. But naturally, his family managed to cover it up and conceal it from the newspapers. Although he hoped to kill himself, he later wakes up in the hospital with Kate by his side and the two profess their love for one another. He doctors the murder scene, disposing of Hugo's body and afterwards, comes to a bridge to confront his imagined vision of Rhys. Early in the finale, Joe is faced with Kate's admission that she feels as though her father "owns" her, citing examples where Tom has destroyed her relationships and opened countless doors for her throughout her career.

You season 4 began with a much-needed paradigm shift that revitalized the show. The twists, turns and “how is he going to get away this time?” of it all was irresistibly watchable. Worse than the triteness of the twist is how the show reverts back to its tired formula afterward. And for a while, it seemed like Rhys was the smarter, more cunning criminal and Joe was the victim. The wicked alter ego has been a trope since at least 1886, when Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was published. After the big twist (which I’ll talk about in a minute), Badgley truly impresses as he displays a wide range of emotions, from shock and fear to tenderness and remorse. Tilly Keeper’s Lady Phoebe started out as a vapid socialite, but has a bit of a metamorphosis as she struggles with trauma and the resulting mental health issues. But You season 4 part 2 brings the show back to its roots, much to my disappointment. But the standout of You season 4 part 2 is a figure from the past – Tati Gabrielle as Marienne Bellamy, Joe’s former flame from Madre Linda. From the beginning, his performance has been engaging and magnetic. Part 2 dials up the action beyond somewhat absurd to groan-inducing far-fetched. After a few episodes, though, a massive twist changes the game to an all-too-familiar one.

Nadia finds Marienne and gives her an injection to wake her up. Then, we cut to the present time, where Marienne explains how dangerous Joe is to Nadia. Marienne tries to fight him off, but Joe ultimately gets the upper hand and throws her into the cage. Joe keeps Marienne in his apartment for days before placing her in a box and bringing her to the abandoned building. She becomes suspicious of Joe and starts to search for clues to see if he is the real killer. However, Joe doesn’t go through with killing Marienne and instead lets her get on her train to Paris.

[Creator Sera Gamble has hinted](https://www.vulture.com/article/you-season-4-who-is-the-killer-sera-gamble.html) that she and co-creator Greg Berlanti know where they want Joe to end up at the conclusion of the series, and it stands to reason that Netflix will give them the runway to get there. The only reason to root for his escape is to root for more You. In the last few beats of the season, we see the now purely evil version of Joe frame Nadia’s boyfriend for all the killings and then frame Nadia for the murder of her boyfriend. So while Kate is alive at the end of Season 4, she might not have very long to live. Nadia is too savvy to tell anyone about what she knows, so her status at the end of the season is pretty bleak. She has chosen to keep Joe by her side and has even paid good money to bring him back from the dead. The fact that we have to worry about the fate of SO MANY women in this show is very telling. In a creeptastic conclusion, we see Joe wander away to admire his reflection during an interview alongside the newly untouchable Kate — and, instead of Joe’s face, we see Rhys is in the glass, smiling back. The beta blockers slowed down her heart enough so that Joe thought she was dead, and dropped her in a park so her body could be found. It’s to the show’s credit that I didn’t really guess that Rhys was actually Joe for the first half of the season, but I did have some questions. While Love wasn’t completely innocent herself, she also appears in a sequence with Beck, who has been relentlessly haunting Joe since he killed her at the end of Season 1. For example, why did Rhys say he had to intervene to save Joe when Joe had already disarmed Roald during his attempt at playing the most dangerous game in the woods of Hampshire House?

As a shot rings out, Joe wakes up on his couch and says, “I know what I need to do.” “Somebody does need to die for this to end for good,” she says putting the barrel to his head. They only came to Joe for a few moments in Season 4’s penultimate episode, but it’s clear they’re still haunting him not so deep down. Joe apologizes and says he’s trying to change his past mistakes, but Beck says he still doesn’t get it and eats the key. A flustered Joe asks what’s happening to him and apologizes to Love. As he’s repeatedly entering the wrong code, he realizes he needs a key to unlock the box. Tell me and I’ll give you the key.” She eventually hands him something, but instead of the key, it’s a gun. Joe lunges forward to grab it, but lands on a table back in the basement. He dreams of bringing Marienne a coffee, then tries to set her free but can’t open the door. Well, there you have it. He's done it again. Four seasons down and Penn Badgely's obsessive serial killer Joe Goldberg continues to trot the globe without so ...

And by 'help' he means that he's killed Eddie, planted the evidence in Nadia's house, and spun his own crimes in such a way that it looks as though Nadia killed Eddie after finding out that he killed Rhys. Like clockwork, Joe finds Marienne and puts her body on the park bench. He fears for Kate and what he's capable of doing to her, as he's done to all his other He's a powerful man now, thanks to Kate and her dead dad money. Things were getting a little repetitive and this switches it up completely. But given Marienne doesn't want the police involved because she fears Joe will escape and come after her again (did we all scream at our TV here?), they come up with something a little more creative. Nadia switches out the drugs Joe gave Marienne for beta-blockers, which can basically slow your heart rate down to the point where you appear to be dead. As usual, though, Joe is in the clear because Kate has had the evidence wiped. But it wasn't long before the bodies started piling up, as a new serial killer hellbent on luring Joe back over to the dark side (as if he ever needed luring) was killing off his new posh pals one by one... But like the good man he is, Joe decides to leave Marienne's body on a park bench rather than bury her so that her daughter can get the closure she deserves. Thankfully for Joe, he wakes up alive and well in hospital. Four seasons down and Penn Badgely's obsessive serial killer Joe Goldberg continues to trot the globe without so much as a scratch, arrest, or an ounce of justice to show for his heinous crimes.

He's no longer running from his past and seemingly happy in a relationship. But worse (from Joe's perspective), he also kidnapped his obsession Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) and held her captive in a glass cage. Although for much of Season 4 Joe appears to be in a battle of words and some actual violence with London mayoral hopeful Rhys (Ed Speleers), it turns out it was all a hallucination. The screen fades to black, and viewers later discover that Joe has moved to New York City with Kate, who inherited all of her father's money and influential status in the wake of his death. The murderous killer had already planted evidence connecting Edward to Rhys' murder and left proof connecting Nadia to Edward's murder in her apartment before calling the police. Kate uses her newfound power to help Joe return to the US with a clean slate. Unfortunately for Rhys, he suffered the IRL consequences of accidentally becoming one of Joe's fixations, and he was subsequently killed. His connection to Kate led him to her father's airport hangar in the final episode, where he sought revenge for his mistreatment of Kate. After Marienne's ex was killed in a robbery gone wrong, Love revealed that it was Joe who had killed Ryan and urged Marienne to take her daughter and leave before she was killed. Now that Joe is back to his old tricks, there's no telling what havoc he'll wreak in New York City in You season five. She gives her beta blocker pills to decrease her heart rate activity in an attempt to make Joe believe that she had committed suicide. He later woke up in a hospital bed with Kate at his side and appeared to come clean about the crimes he committed. He came up lucky when he notices one of her paintings in a park in Paris. Before settling down in London, Joe travels to Paris and "coincidentally" stumbles across Marienne, who was one of his past victims. Joe plans to turn over a new leaf with a new identity as a university professor named Jonathan Moore, but since this is You and it's Joe we're talking about, one can only guess that there would be a murderous trail left behind.

Nothing is as it seems in YOU's fourth season, and few know that better than poor Marienne Bellamy.

“If you’re going to do this show, you want to be in the cage or you want to work with the cage,” Hickman tells TVLine. “I wanted to make sure that I did it right, so I was really grateful that I had Penn [Badgley] and Tati there to help me through it all.” I wanted to see how I could give a different rendition of what it feels like for somebody to be locked in a small box for a prolonged period of time — what that does to the psyche, how one devolves over time.

So it was so fast-paced, but I did enjoy it, to be able to revisit those icons of the show and to be directing was just a special little cherry on top. So what it means, on the purest of levels, is that I get to perform a bit more in a different way. Now with her new role as head of her father’s company, they’re able to spin the story and give Joe a new life of wealth, privilege and power. In the penultimate episode, Elizabeth Lail and Victoria Pedretti come back as figments of Joe’s imagination, encouraging him to take his own life. He thinks where they really connect is trying to get closer and closer to the original wound. I so prefer it this way, because the one thing he couldn’t do with another friend is really go into his psychosis the way we were able by doing it this way. We got it with Forty in season two, and he was iconic for that reason — and also because James Scully is a great actor, and it was a great character. his dark side, off of a bridge and then jumping off the bridge himself, only to be saved by a police boat patrolling the river. So, the big reveal in Part 2 is that Rhys has actually been Joe this whole time. In the last act, Kate tells Joe to be honest with her about everything and, surprisingly, he is. In a series of flashbacks, the audience learns that every time Joe thought he was talking to Rhys, he was actually talking to himself.

The first five episodes felt like Joe and the show were holding back — and, possibly even worse, attempting to give Joe Goldberg some sort of redemption arc. It ...

I'd posit that people who watch the season as a whole will enjoy it more than those who had to wait a month to learn what the season was actually about. He's a highlight of the season, and not just because of Kinnear, but because of what he represents for Joe. It has that wild energy that Part 1 was in need of, the spark that makes You work. Joe goes on a journey as far as character development in Part 2; that journey, and where Joe ends up, points to a real plan for the series. Even the Episode 5 reveal that the "Eat the Rich" killer, and Joe's very own stalker, was mayoral candidate and man of the people Rhys Montrose ( [Ed Speleers](https://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/ed-speleers/credits/3030343007/)) was a little deflating, since Rhys seemed like the most obvious suspect. Their chemistry is what really makes the whole thing work, and their relationship only becomes more twisted and interesting to watch as the season hurtles toward its conclusion. The Rhys he's been speaking to all this time isn't the real Rhys but a figment of Joe's imagination post-psychotic break. Part 1 feels like an entirely different show on its own than it does once you understand the season as a whole, and in splitting up the two parts, some momentum was lost. [Tati Gabrielle](https://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/tati-gabrielle/3030850941/)), in London, kindly let her go as a way to show her that he'd changed — that she'd changed him — and then take on an assumed identity, Jonathan Moore, a literature professor at a university in the city. [Greg Kinnear](https://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/greg-kinnear/3030386437/) — yep, you read that right). It was a hoot (in the way You is always a sick, twisted hoot), but it didn't feel like it was leveling up the series in any way. The first five episodes felt like Joe and the show were holding back — and, possibly even worse, attempting to give Joe Goldberg some sort of redemption arc.

After many twists and turns, You wraps up Season 4 with a blood-chilling ending that cements Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) as an undisputable villain.

Together with Kate, he wants to change the world, and when he looks at his reflection, he sees Rhys is still there. And by forcing Nadia to grab a knife, Joe can blame her for the boy’s murder. Joe is a unified person once again, but he reabsorbed Rhys and all the evil this former alter means. Joe tells Nadia how she’s a bright student and that he expects someone like her to find out the truth. He also tells Nadia he doesn’t want to kill her and that he’s excited to see what she does next. So, even though the two alters worked together to kill Lockwood, Joe still pushes Rhys and throws himself from a bridge. The couple also brainstorms ideas that might lead to indisputable proof of his crimes. Kate is already aware Joe killed Rhys for her father and tells her boyfriend she used her family money to bury the evidence linking Joe to the crime. And since Tom Lockwood (Greg Kinnear) was the only person aware of what Joe had done, it seems like the billionaire is trying to get rid of Joe. To make matters more complicated, the body of the real Rhys Montrose was also found in the woods. It’s a horrendous image for Juliette to have of her mother, but it’s still better than spending the rest of her life wondering what had happened. However, while this realization could lead Joe to sacrifice his life for the sake of the people around him, Season 4’s grim finale underlines how he has actually embraced his bloody persona.

Upon his realization of all that he had done, from killing the real Rhys to the prior three murders and everything that he had done to Marienne, Joe finally realizes how dangerous he is. In the public’s eyes now, Joe escaped an abusive partner in Love, placed Henry in a safe position away from his mother, and is now considered this white knight for how he was able to escape this concocted harm. It’s also at this moment that he erases everything in his mind about Marienne, never returning to feed her (throughout the Part 1 episodes, presumably) or check in on her. Once he transports her to the cage, he begins to lose it, banging his head on the glass, and it’s in that fleeting scene when he snaps into his new persona, the one we previously saw play out as the fake Rhys. A few scenes go by, though, and it’s later revealed that his suicide efforts were thwarted as his body washes up ashore, and Joe later awakens in a hospital bed with his only visitor being Kate. When we last saw Marienne in Part 1, Joe had tracked her down in Europe, chased her through a market, and eventually followed her to a train station before she headed off — seemingly on her way to a new life. That was, in fact, not the case as Joe had slipped something in her drink when he intentionally bumped into her at the station, kidnapped her, and transported her to his apartment before eventually taking her to the cage. The killings that were supposedly carried out by him, which include Malcolm (Stephen Hagan), Simon (Aidan Cheng), and Gemma (Eve Austin), were actually all of Joe’s doing — though in his mind, he had removed himself so far from that darkness that he had no clue this other personality of his was actually the one responsible. Nadia is set on bringing Joe to justice but needs solid evidence to provide to the police, and in order to get it she must go back to his apartment. After finding Marienne in the glass box, passed out with an empty pill bottle, Goldberg assumes she’s dead so he takes her out of the box and leaves her on a bench in a park. When Joe wakes up in the hospital, Kate meets him there and tells him she inherited her father’s wealth and therefore power but in order for them to be together, he has to tell her the truth. Nadia tells Edward about their plan(s), which ended with Nadia meeting Marienne in the park after Joe dropped her there and gave her a drug to reverse the effects of the pills she took to wake her up. Nadia begins to snoop around Joe’s apartment when he’s gone and discovers his real name when her boyfriend, Edward—the son of a newspaper publisher—sends her leaked candid photos of Joe walking around with a bag of Indian food in multiple different pictures. Joe kills Lockwood and after an emotional conversation with the apparitional Montrose, he decides to die by suicide and jumps off a bridge, which he manages to survive because the police immediately rescue him. Viewers then see Montrose break down how Joe imagined this all and is, in fact, the person who killed all of the people who have been murdered this season, thereby continuing to be exactly who he was trying not to be. The identity of the killer is revealed to be Montrose, and Joe tries to figure out how to take him down to get him off his back. All of this leads him to the conclusion that he needs to die by suicide so as not to continue this vicious cycle of hurting women. But by the end of the remaining five episodes, he ultimately remains a serial killer addicted to protecting the woman he loves and almost, but not quite, getting caught. Fans of the show left off the first part of the season with Penn Badgley’s Joe finding out that the “Eat The Rich” killer was Rhys Montrose and becoming obsessed with taking him down. A month after the first part of Season 4 was released, Netflix finally released Part Two on March 9 and Goldberg’s story got wrapped up in a nice, neat(-ish) bow as it always does.

And that’s good on one hand, because it means we’ve made this thing in a compelling enough way that that’s what it does.

We thought he was on the path to redemption in part one, then bam! Psychopath Joe is back in the building.

But this choice, this character decision to have Joe embrace his inner demon seems -- perversely -- to be a wise one. Maybe season 5 will see Joe master his killing instinct and use it only on the deserving, Dexter-style. He jumps off the side of a bridge in an attempt to end Rhys and his own evil doings. But then season 4 showed Joe -- and us -- the truth. Kate promises she can accept all of him -- both his Joe side and his Rhys side -- and makes a proposition: She'll help him stay "good" as long as he reciprocates and helps her stay "good." Given that Joe usually disappears into long pauses in conversations (when he's telling us in voiceover what his real opinion of people is), the Rhys hallucination is kind of a plausible Joe thing to make up.

He does that in order to bring out a side to Joe that Joe's probably trying to push away. The final handful of episodes picks up after Joe ( [Penn Badgley](https://collider.com/tag/penn-badgley/)) learned that Rhys (Ed Speleers) is the "Eat the Rich" killer. But in order to do that, you have to understand their mindset, and you have to get on board with the idea that they're making decisions because they think this is the best thing...I love the fact that he does some very broad, bold, bold suggestions. While Rhys was very much a real person, he and Joe never met until the moments leading up to his death. We got it with Forty in season two, and he was iconic for that reason — and also because James Scully is a great actor, and it was a great character. So, Joe sets out to prove it and put a stop to Rhys once and for all.

There is always a “You” that Joe is obsessing over, addressing in his thoughts, building a whole imaginary identity around a person he watches from afar and up close, never really accepting the real person in front of him over the version he created. This traps Joe as a pawn in a cat-and-mouse game between Rhys and his girlfriend’s father, as each wants Joe to kill the other. Two episodes into part 2, this season of You gets turned on its head when Joe arrives to kill Rhys Montrose and discovers he has no idea who Joe is. Instead, he settles for attempting to murder him by trapping him in a cellar set ablaze, which Joe survives — only to find that his new nemesis is running for mayor, and he might be the only person who knows the truth about him. Given his considerable resources, he also knows that Joe is not Jonathan Moore, and suspects his spotty history with dead women means that Joe is, in fact, a killer. While this sort of thing could conceivably lead somewhere good, it’s also a premise that could undo the show’s careful work to not overly empathize with or justify Joe, even as it remains firmly rooted in his perspective.

If she can get to the bottom of a mystery like Joe Goldberg, she's certainly smart enough to manifest her own release from prison. Nadia joins the ranks of women who are well aware of Joe Goldberg's proclivities. To her horror, he has murdered Edward and made sure that Nadia is the number one suspect. Handing her the knife that he used to kill her boyfriend, Joe tells Nadia, “There's going to be a box found in your bedroom by the police. Nadia might be locked up for a crime she didn't commit, but that doesn't mean she can't make an appearance in future seasons of You. They decide to go to Joe's apartment to look for evidence that he is the real Eat the Rich Killer, believing that he's likely kept souvenirs of his victims. Of all of the people in Jonathan Moore's life, Nadia is probably the most dangerous—because she's onto him. After finding an article about the death of Joe's first wife, Love, online, Nadia convinces Edward that Jonathan Moore is really Joe Goldberg. He even enlists the help of one of his literature students, Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman), to help him understand the mechanics of a whodunnit as he tries to uncover the identity of the the [Eat the Rich Killer](https://www.elle.com/culture/movies-tv/a42815779/you-season-4-eat-the-rich-killer-explained/) targeting London's elite. With the help of her boyfriend Edward, Nadia begins to investigate Jonathan. Nadia desperately wants to help Marienne, who forbids her from calling the police. You season 4 star Tati Gabrielle explains the challenge behind filming those big Marienne twists in part 2.

That was a huge challenge for me, but I guess still fun and still a blast in the way of that's what I live for as an actor, those kinds of challenges. But I was just trying to put that focus back into Marienne to really grasp what solitary confinement can do to somebody and what the stages of that devolvement, or that evolution, look like. I knew at the start of season three that I was going to be in season four, but I didn't know to what capacity yet. That got intense sometimes throughout the whole course of Marienne's journey from season three to season four. So I just sat outside for a while trying to calm down and just breathe and reground myself back into reality. I would love to see more for Marianne. You season 4 part 2 star Tati Gabrielle unpacks the twist ending for her character Marienne and what's next for the character.

“With Black people, as a product of our generational trauma or product of our experience in the world, we’re often hyper aware, and have a very strong survival instinct.” “Whenever you watch a horror film and you see the Black person's the first person to die — in real life, that would never happen. “I was very excited for the second half of the season and the opportunity to explore new parts of her that we hadn't been able to see,” Tati says. “Though it's such a high stakes situation, I knew it was going to be fun for both me and the audience to be able to meet Marienne in this very raw and vulnerable way.” We saw him let Marienne, played by Tati Gabrielle, go during the first half of the season, only to find that he’s actually done to her what he’s done to countless people before — held her captive. In the new episodes, out March 9, we’re taken deep into his troubled psyche, only to find that he hasn’t let go of old habits — in fact, he’s spiraled into a whole new realm of problematic behavior.

You showrunner Sera Gamble explained why they chose to go with that insane twist in season four, part two.

We didn’t commit to it for this season until we knew we were doing the whodunnit, but we did keep a close eye on how crazy Joe was from season to season because we didn’t want it to come completely out of left field." For better and for worse, I don’t have much interest in working on a season of TV that isn’t continuing to challenge me as a writer and challenge the writers room. 'You' Season 4, Part 2 ends with many twists and Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) once again on top and more powerful than ever.

While it felt like the season was going full Fight Club when Joe threw Evil Rhys over the side of the bridge, we get our first hint that New York Joe has decided to embrace the evil when he looks out the window and we see a reflection of Rhys in the glass. Joe places the knife in her hand, and tells her what's about to happen: he's given an anonymous tip that Eddie killed Rhys, and has set it up so that Nadia looks like the person who killed Eddie—because she found out that Eddie "killed" Rhys. And maybe we'll see that start to happen in Season 5. We'd love to see Ellie return and help take Joe down, but with Ortega's career exploding as much as it has, that may prove difficult. Marianne knows better than anyone alive just how much of a monster Joe is, and while she may not want to mess with the life she's managed to find with her daughter, she also may feel a calling to bring him down. Most importantly (and in a twist that was fairly easy to see coming), Marianne's "death" was an elaborate scheme set up by Nadia and Marianne; Nadia was the one texting Marianne's phone as her friend about custody, and Nadia found drugs that were able to slow Marianne's heartrate down to make it seem like she was dead. London Joe is scaring the absolute crap out of Nadia with a big smile on his face, telling her that his circumstances have changed. A little of that typical Joe Goldberg internal monologue—he regrets his decision to jump, yada yada—and we fade out. The two of them also cooked up the fake suicide note to leave Marianne's body in public so that she could be found; this was really so Nadia could give her an adrenaline shot and bring her back to life to make her great escape. She tells him that her dad is now dead, she has all of his resources, and she can help him cover everything up and start new. We don't even have to talk much about the back-and-forth; Tom thinks Joe killed Rhys just for him, Joe just wants to get rid of Tom because of how horrible he was to Kate (Charlotte Richie) and how much impact he's seemingly had on her life (Whether he's telling the truth is anyone's guess. In fact, “not only has he not changed, he’s actually become a less conflicted version of himself,” Gamble explains. A quick shot of Rhys in Joe’s reflection in the window confirms that Joe’s dark passenger is still very much along for the ride. The finale closes with Joe back in New York and living under his original name, thanks to Kate’s expensive team working to game virtually every system imaginable.

He has a propensity to do this.” In fact, Joe’s duality goes all the way back to season 1, with Gamble noting, “In the first frames of the series in the pilot, his inner monologue is really distinct. But I am not a doctor and the writers’ room is not full of doctors.” The team behind You has researched a plethora of conditions, but when it comes to what’s going on in Joe’s head, Gamble says, “We are not writing a show to perfectly dramatize any particular syndrome. But to us, Joe is one of one, and we’re telling the story of his particular psyche.” [Mayo Clinic](https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/dissociative-disorders/symptoms-causes/syc-20355215) also notes that dissociative disorders, such as Joe’s belief that Rhys is carrying out his crimes, present as a “disconnection and lack of continuity between thoughts, memories, surroundings, actions and identity.” Per the site, dissociative disorders “usually develop as a reaction to trauma and help keep difficult memories at bay,” which would certainly be true for Joe, considering his traumatic past. “And I spent a lot of my career personally writing about ghosts and demons and alternate universes where there’s another one of you. In a certain way, we see the arc of the series as Joe getting a little bit more unhinged as each season goes along. Here, Joe’s identity seems to shatter, and he’s faced to confront his actions like never before. But Joe has been hallucinating Rhys in his absence, and even worse, he’s assumed Rhys’ identity to carry out some pretty heinous acts, such as kidnapping Marienne and locking her in a glass cage. Gamble also notes that Joe’s body has faced some violence throughout the series, all of which has only added to his current mental state. As for why Joe essentially split into two people in season 4, Gamble tells ELLE.com, “We started talking about it a couple of seasons ago. Does Joe have a particular medical condition causing him to split into two people?
