“He’s got a long period of time in the gym ahead of him, and that’s really challenging, but we’ve seen before that he’s been able to go through that and come out the other end almost a better player. I’m feeling a lot more confident about my game.” “There’s also some guys who are really fortunate to miss out and it’s a shame for them, but it’s a great thing for West Australian cricket. “The way that the stars have aligned, we feel like we’ve got really healthy competition for spots and as a result of that it means our playing XI is really strong,” West Australian captain Ashton Turner told reporters on Tuesday. “It’s probably a good way to sum up the year, a little bit frustrating, but one-day cricket for whatever reason has been really consistent and has been the format where I’ve most trusted my game.” Ahead of the Marsh Cup final in Perth, Western Australian gloveman Josh Philippe has been dubbed Player of the Tournament following a “frustrating” summer of cricket.

Nathan McAndrew copped the harshest punishment, finishing with figures of 0-99 off nine overs. Inglis – who also scored a century in the Marsh Sheffield Shield last month against Tasmania – was understood to have been on standby for that tour should Australia have required another batter between the second and third Test. South Australia will be left to rue a horror fielding effort with Inglis dropped twice in his 110-ball knock and No.3 Cameron Bancroft once in his 90 from 112 deliveries.

The West End Redbacks Marsh Cup season has come to a close with a heavy defeat against an outstanding Western Australia side at the WACA on Wednesday.
Despite a difficult ending, it was a great Marsh Cup season from the Redbacks to make the Marsh Cup final and finish runners up. In the end, SA was bowled out for 206 and Western Australia claimed the Marsh Cup with a 181-run victory. The match got off to the perfect start for the Redbacks, with Spencer Johnson getting Player of the Tournament Josh Philippe out in the first over with, help from a super Nathan McAndrew catch.
Josh Inglis admits he “didn't feel great” all the way through his record-breaking Marsh Cup final knock at the WACA Ground to lead a powerhouse WA side to ...
Inglis was one of four WA players involved in the final who fly out for the three-match ODI series in India on Thursday morning alongside all-rounders Mitch Marsh (56 off 30), Agar (26 off 15) and Marcus Stoinis (11 off eight) who also had an impact. His stand of 227 with No.3 Cameron Bancroft was the highest ever for WA for the second wicket and fourth-most in the State’s history. Inglis was only on 26 off 42 balls at the time with the score at 1-55 but really flicked the switch after that, belting 112 of his next 68 deliveries on his way to a maiden List-A century which bettered his previous best of 91. But that was as good as it got with Agar (5-64 off 9.4) and all-time leading wicket-taker Tye (3-34 off seven), back from a stint in the Pakistan Super League, sparking a collapse of 6-45. The gloveman made the most of some sloppy SA fielding and a promotion to the top to belt a stunning 138 from just 110 balls in the reigning champion’s equal-highest ever total of 7-387 on the way to a dominant 181-run victory. WA crawled to 1-35 after 10 overs but made up for it in the latter half of the innings with 247 the last 25.
Western Australia 387 for 7 (Inglis 138, Bancroft 90, Marsh 56, W Agar 2-56) beat South Australia 206 (Hunt 50, Smith 44, Agar 5-64) by 181 runs.
As a thunderstorm, rare in Perth this time of year, threatened to intervene, South Australia openers Hunt and Kelvin Smith provided the fireworks to notch a 50-run partnership within six overs. But South Australia's fielding deteriorated from there with Inglis dropped by Henry Hunt on the boundary off spinner Ben Manenti in a pivotal moment. After his recent ton in the Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania, Marsh hit five sixes in a showcase of his trademark power to flatten SA's flagging attack. He dismissed player-of-the-tournament Josh Philippe in the first over after Nathan McAndrew took a fine running catch at mid-on. He finished with his best Marsh Cup figures of 5 for 64 in a tonic for him ahead of returning to India. He shared in a second-wicket partnership of 227 with in-form

Inglis cracked 14 fours and five sixes on the way to the highest score in a one-day cup final, beating the 135no from Michael Bevan in 2001 when NSW beat WA.AAP Bancroft was on 51 when Henry Thornton dropped an absolute sitter at mid-off, with the ball going straight through his hands and to the boundary. The moment proved decisive, with Inglis needing just 45 more balls to race from 26 to his maiden one-day Cup century. Inglis was a sluggish 26 off 42 balls with the scoreboard reading 1-55 in the 14th over when he was dropped by Hunt at deep mid-wicket. “We speak about it a lot that we don’t just want to win the odd title here or there, we want to start a dynasty and win everything,” Inglis said. Josh Inglis was dropped three times on the way to posting 138 off 110 balls in Wednesday’s one-sided clash.

After getting a promotion to the top of the order with regular opener D’Arcy Short, Inglis bettered his previous best score of 91 as he tunes up for the India ODI series in style. It could’ve seen the score 2-55 in the 15th over but instead the Australian One-Day International squad member blasted his maiden domestic one-day century and the highest ever score in a final with 138 off just 110 balls. That’s the painful lesson South Australia learned in Wednesday’s Marsh Cup decider at the WACA Ground when Henry Hunt spilled a catch on the boundary off Ben Manenti when the prolific WA right-hander was on just 26.

Western Australia have continued their domestic dominance with a blister win over South Australia at the WACA Ground last night.
It also means they’re in the hunt for another treble if they can win the Sheffield Shield final in a couple of weeks time – a feat they achieved last season. Western Australia’s dominance of the domestic cricket league continued last night with a dominating victory of South Australia in the Marsh Cup Final at the WACA Ground. Inglis’ partnership with resurgent opener Cam Bancroft (90 off 112) batted South Australia out of the game, before returning captain Mitch Marsh finished the job with a quick-fire 56 off 30 in the final stages.
