You are the leader of a clan that decides to start a settlement right on top of a town you’ve plundered. When Atlantis rises, you’re in charge of rebuilding and restoring it to it’s former, mythical glory. This single-player game mixes city building with survival elements in a high-fantasy setting. You’ll re-grow the trees, clean up the rivers, and eventually create a sustainable civilization where people definitely won’t make the same mistakes again. But you’re not just building a nice city for your peasants—you also have to defend it from competing lords, whether through diplomacy or large-scale tactical battles. Expansion—and all the conquering, exploitation, and plundering that come with it—is necessary for your society’s survival, leaving you with a choice between benevolence and tyranny.

Cities: Skylines 2's achievements hint at larger cities and disasters (Rock Paper Shotgun)

Cities: Skylines 2's announcement was sparse on detail, but a leaked achievement list hints at some of the features it might have.

Whatever it does, it feels as if it needs to offer something to offset the transition from heavily-expanded, heavily-modded Skylines to a sequel that will presumably, initially at least, be less content rich. There's also a "Zero Emission" achievement, awarded for building a city entirely powered by renewable energy sources, and others which celebrate using an editor to make a map or any non-map asset. The first Cities: Skylines maps had a maximum of 81 map tiles, of which 25 were buildable, although players could only build on a maxium of nine within a single city. If you hunger for something more concrete about how it might differ from its predecessor, as I do, then you might be interested in an apparently leaked list of achievements that contains details of disasters, weather, embiggened map sizes and more. All of those sound interesting to me. [PC Gamer](https://www.pcgamer.com/cities-skylines-2-will-have-hailstorms-rat-infestations-and-150-map-tiles-in-a-single-city/), the seemingly full list of Xbox achievements is available via both [Xbox Achievements](https://www.xboxachievements.com/game/cities-skylines-2/achievements/) and [True Achievements](https://www.trueachievements.com/game/Cities-Skylines-II/achievements).
