Jean Nassif is among key witnesses being sought by an upper house inquiry examining allegations of impropriety over development decisions at Hills Shire Council. He has not been accused of any wrongdoing in relation to their investigation. “The allegations were dealt with already by the ICAC and the person making the allegations has not offered a shred of evidence,” he previously told the committee, adding that he had not left the country to avoid the inquiry, rather it was a pre-planned holiday.

Court hears allegations against Ashlyn Nassif, 27, relate to Skyview development in Castle Hill.

Nassif appeared via video link from prison wearing an orange tie-dye top, and waved to her mother, sister and fiance, who were in the court. In a statement the NSW Police said that after the raids, Ashlyn Nassif attended the Day Street police station where she was arrested and charged. That inquiry – which is separate and unrelated to the police investigation – has been seeking to call Jean Nassif, who is currently in rural Lebanon, as a witness. While Nassif was the only person to have been charged in relation to the NSW Police investigation, the court heard it had been “foreshadowed” that there was likely to be more to come. Grogin said she was accused of making “false and misleading” statements in relation to the sale. Sydney property developer Jean Nassif's 27-year-old daughter Ashlyn is granted bail after spending the night behind bars.

Mr Nassif said he was in a remote part of Lebanon at the time and denied any wrongdoing. The magistrate said it was alleged it was "a sophisticated and planned situation" — but referred to her good character as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of NSW and lack of criminal record in granting her bail. The magistrate said "the offences are extremely serious in nature" adding this was because of the amount of money mentioned in the allegations and "the fact she's a legal practitioner of NSW".

Nassif and daughter allegedly deceived bank to secure $150 million ... (The Sydney Morning Herald)

Property developer Jean Nassif and his daughter secured approval for the credit application by deceiving Westpac with “fake” documents, police allege.

However, he added that she came before the court with no criminal record and as a person of good character. The matter will return to court in two weeks. EA Legal was allegedly featured as the “vendor’s solicitor” in qualifying presale contracts supplied to Westpac. However, police will allege data was manipulated and that multiple contracts were not genuine or at “arm’s length” from Nassif’s associates. Under the terms, presales had to be conducted “at arm’s length” with 10 per cent deposits. A key condition for approval was that Toplace secure $10.5 million, or 20 per cent, of presales in one of the residential buildings.
