The 2022 NAPLAN scores are out, revealing which Australian schools are best in class, and which have climbed the rankings since the previous results.

Fellow regular high performers St Aidan’s Anglican Girls School in Brisbane’s west and Somerset College on the Gold Coast rounded out the top six for 2022 NAPLAN results. Two of the four non-government schools in the top 20 are low-fee, outer suburban schools and two are high-fee schools. Between 60 per cent and 90 per cent of students were from non-English-speaking backgrounds in every school in the top 10.

"What this also tells us is that if you're a child from a poor background or from the bush, and you go to a school where there's lots of children from a poor background, it's harder to catch up," he said. "The heart of the matter is this: if you're a child from a poor background or from the bush, you're less likely to go to preschool, you're more likely to fall behind at primary school, you're less likely to finish high school and less likely to go on to university, that's the awful truth of it," he said.
