F45 closures: Pandemic pain rocks fitness empire as two branches ... (7NEWS.com.au)

At its peak the iconic brand was backed by Mark Wahlberg and valued at $2b on the New York stock exchange. Now its equipment is being sold on Facebook.

But just a year later, the fitness flagship revealed plans to axe 110 employees globally in a major downgrade of growth and revenue forecasts. “ Liquidators Travis Pullen and Murray Daniel of B&T Advisory — who have been appointed to wind up another four F45 branches in inner Brisbane — placed much of the blame for the share struggles on reduced memberships in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The branches liquidated last year include F45 Yeppoon in Queensland, F45 Training Airport Pty Ltd in WA, Fit Fellas Pty Ltd trading as F45 Sunshine in Victoria and Avenire Pty Ltd trading as F45 Training Mount Barker in South Australia. It follows liquidators being appointed to eight other branches since September as the company continues to struggle with the effects of the pandemic on its rapid global expansion and at home. And despite the pandemic derailing initial plans for F45 to go public on the New York stock exchange, it eventually launched its IPO in July 2021 for a tidy market valuation of $A2 billion.
