Dragons young gun emotional after tough outing as Bunnies' big guns deliver: Big Hits.

“I dare say that is Tyrell Sloan’s position to get in across from the back of the scrum. Captain Cameron Murray and veteran hooker Damien Cook linked up for the first try. “Fullbacks these days need to be consistent under the high ball, carry the ball hard and tough, but also marshall the defence. Cody Walker crossed for his second and then the Dragons responded with two tries. Young fullback Tyrell Sloan dropped a high ball and Latrell Mitchell scored off the scrum. It seems Anthony Griffin has a lot of work to do before the Dragons’ first clash of the season — Round 2 against the Titans. Sloan showed some spark in attack as the game went on but his first half in particular will leave Anthony Griffin with a lot to consider. But it seems the 20-year-old has a lot to work on before the Dragons’ first game of the year in Round 2. Not even a word from coach Anthony Griffin at half time could turn things around for the Dragons as their errors early in the second half seemed to pain the coach. A Dragons error then opened the door for the Rabbitohs to score their third try of the afternoon. It wasn’t until the Rabbitohs took the foot off the gas — and the stars were taken off — in the second half did the Dragons finally show signs of life. South Sydney’s big guns stole the show in the first half as the Dragons were exposed in a 26-nil beat down.

NRL Trials: Klaxons sounding already for Griffin as Dragons defence ... (The Roar)

Souths have picked up the Charity Shield with a comfortable 42-24 win over St George Illawarra in Mudgee, though that is only half the…

Hook can’t control the poor decisions of his defenders, but he does tell them to run a man-oriented system that relies on individuals to make good decisions. The trick is that they have to keep doing it. This was the Souths that we wanted to see: they chucked it, they attacked from the off, they made metres with ease.

Rabbitohs pile more Charity Shield pain on disappointing Dragons (The Sydney Morning Herald)

Souths triumphed 42-24 to make it 10 wins from the past 11 Charity Shields. But never had the gap between the Dragons and Souths been so wide.

You saw Sloan a bit emotional, he’s worked hard to be where he is, I think he’s a very talented player, he has a lot of skill, he should have played more football last year, but he’ll play a lot more this year.” Coach Anthony Griffin has plenty to work on before the Dragons kick off their campaign in round two. Souths triumphed 42-24 to make it their 10 wins from the past 11 Charity Shields. Even though it was only a trial in Mudgee, things are looking bleak for the Dragons. He plays with plenty of energy, glides across the ground, but is clearly lacking confidence. Sloan had a few errors in the opening half, botched a kick in the second half after he had made a break, and even lost the ball on the final play when dragged to the ground.
