Road closures are in place on New West Roads, Proper Bay Road, Yandra Terrace, Barley Road, Western Approach Road and Noontina Road. Take shelter in a solid building. CFS issues emergency warning for bushfire burning toward Port ... (ABC News)

The Country Fire Service says lives and homes are under threat from a bushfire near Port Lincoln.

"We're having a lot of people checking in being really worried … Our facilities are available to those in need," it said. "And the spread of the bushfire is limited at the moment to the eastern and western flanks." "At this stage the fire has continued through the industrial area, which is of a concern in terms of the number of assets that may have been lost, but we haven't seen that impact into the suburb areas of Port Lincoln as yet," he said. The CFS also said the fire is causing smoke to drift in a wide area surrounding Port Lincoln. "It is a fire burning with a really high level of intensity, producing lots of smoke that will be visible to people in Port Lincoln and the surrounds," Country Fire Service deputy state controller Brenton Hastie said.
