16 of the most romantic movie moments of all time to get you in the ... (HELLO!)

Who doesn't love a soppy film scene? Here are some of the best that have made us shed a tear, left us swooning or had us reinstall Bumble!

Emma Thompson as Eleanor Dashwood - particularly when she finally lets go of her concealed emotions and has a fully-fledged breakdown after realising that her one true love, Edward Ferrars, isn't married after all, is one of the all-time most perfect moments from any Jane Austen adaptation. In You've Got Mail, the warring book shop owners fall in love via email, with no idea that they are enemies in real life - until Joe twigs, and uses Kathleen's ignorance to his advantage by gently convincing her to forgive and fall in love with him - despite his store ruining her sweet little shop. [movie](https://www.hellomagazine.com/film/) full of love and romance is one of the best ways to celebrate [Valentine's Day](https://www.hellomagazine.com/tags/valentines-day/). Now we just need to see how the couple are doing in the sequel! The film tells the story of Sam and Annie as they go back and forth on whether to meet and pursue a relationship. Julia Stiles stars alongside Heath and the film explores the two's love-hate relationship. And his turn in the 1999 teen cult film Ten Things… From [ Heath Ledger's iconic singing in Ten Things I Hate About You](https://www.hellomagazine.com/tags/heath-ledger/) to a rather [controversial Love Actually moment](https://www.hellomagazine.com/film/20221130158443/love-actually-richard-curtis-stupid-diversity/), these scenes will definitely have you feeling the love – and grabbing a tissue or two! Then, the two lovebirds go in for THAT kiss (which happened to win MTV Movie Award in fact) and our hearts officially broke. In the end, Sam is finally convinced to head to New York and, in a final scene that is often considered one of the best, the couple meets for the first time atop New York's Empire State Building. The film star and 90s heartthrob starred in Richard Curtis' 1999 epic Notting Hill alongside Julia Roberts and the two leading characters soon fell in love. Romeo and Juliet may not exactly be a new story, but Baz Luhrmann's 1997 version starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Clare Danes as the two star-crossed lovers certainly put a fresh spin on the Bard's famous play.

15 Great Romantic Movies And Rom-Coms To Watch This ... (Forbes)

Here are fifteen great romantic dramas, comedies and historical epics to watch this Valentine's Day.

The dark comedy about a boy obsessed with death and the elderly woman he ends up befriending and falling for is certainly one of the oddest films I’ve ever seen, but I love it. Maybe not the most romantic film, but one of the most moving, thought-provoking films about relationships I’ve ever seen, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is Jim Carrey in one of his most serious—and compelling—roles. It’s a tale as old as time and all that and I still get goosebumps every time I watch it and hear the opening narration about the selfish prince and the old woman who comes to his door one night seeking shelter. It may be vulgar, violent and ridiculous but it’s still one of the most romantic films ever. As much as I love Billy Crystal in The Princess Bride, there just isn’t enough of him—and there’s no Meg Ryan. I’m a huge sucker for historical romances and Legends Of The Fall remains one of my favorites of all time (and yes, I named my son Tristan after Brad Pitt’s character in this movie, much like I named my daughter Aria after the character in Game Of Thrones). A brilliant cast all around and one of the most beautifully shot films ever made. The list goes on and on!) What a classic. Yes, this is stupid Adam Sandler silliness for the most part, but it’s very funny and very sweet (and I still like it more than Sandler and Barrymore’s Fifty First Dates, though that one is also great). Obviously there are far too many films to fit on a list of fifteen (that began life as a much shorter list and then grew as I kept thinking of more). Joaquin Phoenix stars across from the disembodied voice of Scarlett Johansson in this odd romantic comedy about a man falling in love with an AI. Either way, today is a day for hot dates and movies with all the feels.
