Carlsen's Epic Game (Chess.com)

The following game is a very good example. And now we are getting close to the most exciting part of the game. Indeed, in most cases, when we have a material advantage, we want to trade our pieces to get into an endgame. In most cases, it is well worth sacrificing a pawn to get counterplay rather than protect an inferior, passive position! Well, there is one very important reason in favor of the fianchetto. As a result of Praggnanandhaa's creative play, White's pawn on e5 is in grave danger. [previous article](https://www.chess.com/article/view/who-played-the-chess-idea-first), we briefly discussed the Greco attack, where a bishop on d3 is the main hero. You can find the whole story [here](https://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-and-political-correctness). In most cases, an "epic" is a major piece of historical heritage that sets cultural values. Look at White's bishop on d3, which is dangerously looking in the direction of Black's kingside. I am sure that a chess player of any level, from total beginner to [grandmaster](https://www.chess.com/terms/grandmaster-chess), would find something interesting in this game. While this game indeed features many attacks, counterattacks, and sacrifices, the result is a draw!

We currently run only a small amount of games on this service (games by guests and most unrated games) as we test, tune, and develop the features. We are very much still working to achieve the level of performance to which we aspire. We want to make that right. - We are in the process of re-writing our Live Server so that we can move from a single server to a distributed service that could scale horizontally across numerous servers. Here are some of the changes we can share. - We applied a cap to the number of non-premium members able to access our live server during peak hours. That said, we are not yet at the level of stability to which we aspire. - We have been sharding and decoupling our database infrastructure as quickly as possible. That said, we've made measurable improvements that we want to share. - This traffic has caused our servers and infrastructure to struggle significantly. We want to be fully celebrating this chess boom, but to be honest, we have felt more pain than joy as our services have struggled to manage traffic during peak hours. We are very, very sorry for the issues so many of you have experienced in recent weeks.
