An aggregate of two driver’s laps will decide who progresses to the top 10 shootout and the grid positions 11-26. Qualifying is split into two sessions, with the 25 minute Q1 session opened to all cars except the Pro class, before the 40 minute Q2 is open to all cars. This is in stark contrast to last year’s rainy and foggy conditions, as well as the 2020 event which was held in scorching heat. With 55 cars and a wide variety of machines through the field, the Combined Sedans will be one to watch.

“With the bike you are outside so you feel more the speed. “With the bike you need more space, more run-off area. “For me it’s better with the cars. “The track is very impressive, it’s something different. I think this track is not so different to Phillip Island [where] you have a lot of space and no walls, but the design is similar. “You have to take a bit of margin because if you make a mistake, it’s a big problem. I feel good with the car, I have a good feeling and I have good grip [and] I can push. “Every lap you want to try and make it a little bit more [speed] but the walls are there. “You have two different tracks — it’s a normal track [at the bottom] and the Mountain is different,” he explained. “It’s one of the mythical tracks, so from the PlayStation to iRacing now, I make a lot of laps. “The session was red flagged and was not restarted due to the damage caused to the tyre wall following the impact. “To be here in Mount Panorama after 20 years of [racing in] sims is an emotion, when you see the track for the first time.

The top two GT3 classes – Pro and Pro-Am – are those most likely to be racing for the win, with 16 cars between them. Nissan, McLaren, Porsche and Bentley have each won once. In Australia, the Bathurst 12 Hour will be shown across Fox Sports (and its streaming service Kayo) plus the Seven Network (and streaming on 7Plus) from 12:30pm AEDT on Saturday 4 February. Since its inception in 1991, the Bathurst 12 Hour has evolved into a world-class race which attracts drivers, car-makers and teams from all over the world to battle it out for glory.
