It's the second time the DJ and music producer has won the countdown, a feat that has previously only been done by Australian rock band Powderfinger.
American singer-rapper and flautist Lizzo was this year’s highest-ranked solo female artist with her song About Damn Time which came in at No.7. Music festival favourites and long-time countdown staples the Hilltop Hoods broke a Hottest 100 record when their song A Whole Day’s Night featuring Montaigne and Tom Thum came in at No.54. Last year’s title was awarded to childhood favourites-turned-music festival regulars The Wiggles, whose playful rendition of Tame Impala’s Elephant became the first cover song to top the countdown. Australian indie-rock band Spacey Jane had an extremely successful top 10 campaign, with their much-loved song Hardlight closing out the podium.
