Scorchers skipper's masterclass as 'embarrassing' Sixers fall apart ... (Fox Sports)

The Perth Scorchers have once again booked their spot in the Big Bash League final, and captain Ashton Turner is largely to thank.

Turner and Bancroft quickly set about steadying the ship. The Scorchers were suddenly reeling at 3-22 after four overs. [The wheels started falling off for the Sixers in the 13th over](https://www.foxsports.com.au/cricket/domestic-cricket/big-bash/some-sort-of-curse-cricket-world-gobsmacked-by-shambles-sixers-catch-clanger/news-story/fecae869f5c820ddabd7fa7a2ec1cfac) when Bancroft top-edged a sweep shot against veteran spinner Steve O’Keefe, only for the ball to land safely between Philippe and Christian, who stared at each other in disbelief. It was the Scorchers’ highest fourth-wicket partnership in BBL history. Despite the chaos in the field, Turner and Bancroft continued on their merry way, ultimately chasing the target in the penultimate over to send the 41,126 spectators into a frenzy. The Scorchers run chase got off to a horror start, with opener Stephen Eskinazi miscuing a lofted drive against Sixers seamer Sean Abbott, caught at mid on for 4 (8). Hardie’s afternoon took another turn for the worse, smacking a pull shot directly towards Christian at mid-wicket for 9 (9) to become Abbott’s second victim. Thankfully for Scorchers fans, Smith made his way back to the sheds for 18 (16) after chipping a catch back to England paceman David Payne in the ninth over. Silk’s unbeaten 47 (34) guided the Sixers towards a respectable team total of 8-151, with Behrendorff (2-17 from four overs) the pick of the bowlers. After combining with Jordan Silk for a crucial 88-run partnership for the fourth wicket, Henriques departed for 58 (43), caught at deep mid-wicket in the 17th over. The 30-year-old smacked a career-best 84 (47) not out against the Sydney Sixers in Saturday evening’s Qualifier at Perth Stadium, combining with Cameron Bancroft for an unbeaten 130-run partnership for the fourth wicket to help the Scorchers chase the 152-run target with nine balls to spare.
