'Stupid dance bulls***': UFC's newest villain crowned as fighters fume over 'disrespectful' act.

“Definitely not a fan of the disrespectful “celebration” by ihor…could have just been heat of the moment but still Rua is a legend that deserves only respect!” “But that doesn’t change that this man is an absolute legend but a big win for Potieria to come in here, a hostile territory and get the TKO finish.” As for Shogun, the 41-year-old apologised to his home fans for not ending his career with a fairytale win. “Woah, woah, nice to meet you we are from Ukraine and I am the future of the UFC,” he said. The 41-year-old found success early in the fight with a massive left hook that had the crowd roaring but they were soon rendered silent as Potieria landed a left and right hook, sending Shogun to the ground. The former UFC and PRIDE champion confirmed at this week’s media day that his fight against Potieria will be his last, describing it as a “tough” decision.

UFC 283: Ihor Potieria TKOs Retiring Shogun Rua in Legend's Final ... (Cageside Press)

Ihor Potieria spoiled the retirement of Shogun Rua at UFC 283 on Saturday, stopping the legend via TKO in the opening round of the featured prelim.

He has accomplished things no one else in the sport has and will go down in history as a legend. The violence of Shogun Rua is legendary but at the age of forty-one it was appropriate that this would be his last fight, with his last win coming back in 2020 against a fellow legend, ‘Big Nog,’ and dropping two fights in the time since. A slip from Rua led to him getting blitzed and hit against the fence.

Twitter reacts to Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua's retirement fight loss at UFC ... (MMA Junkie)

The MMA community said farewell to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua after his retirement-fight loss at UFC 283.

Thank you Mauricio for all of the wars and all of the special moments Shogun leg kick. Excited for his final curtain! He was always a favorite to watch in the ring or cage, But loved seeing the Brazilian crowd showing him the respect he deserved with a standing ovation. I watched all of his Pride fights. After Shogun lost to Forrest Griffin in 2007, there was chatter of him falling off after PRIDE. Gonna be plenty of onions getting cut in the Al-Shatti household tonight. There are at least 3 old Legend of Zelda files named “Shogun” buried somewhere in my closet. We fought on the same card together in Uberlandia Brazil years ago and it wasn’t the night for either of us. [January 22, 2023] Shogun and me share the exact same birthday. Rua (27-14-1 MMA, 11-12-1 UFC), the former UFC and PRIDE grand prix champion better known as “Shogun,” suffered a loss in his retirement fight.
