Police are responding to reports of shots fired at Tara this afternoon (January 18). Initial information indicates around 3.30pm a civilian vehicle was.

No one has been physically injured. No police vehicle has been shot at. An emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) has been declared, with an exclusion zone encompassing Surat Development Road, Day Street, Benn Street, Fry Street and Milne Street.

Two teenagers have been charged and another cautioned after cars were hit by bullets during a shooting incident in a small Queensland town.

Superintendent Vine said on Thursday several officers who were involved in the Wieambilla incident also responded to the shooting in Tara on Wednesday. The young officers were among a group of police that was ambushed upon arriving at a property to follow up on a missing person’s report. The Trains were killed later that day in a shootout with tactical officers after an hours-long standoff at the property. Police said three cars were shot at before the teens were arrested, including one that pulled up next to a police cordon outside the Day St property. Four teenage boys were taken into custody on Wednesday night after police locked down the centre of Tara after shots were fired at a vehicle that afternoon. Dalby detectives have charged two 16-year-old boys with seven offences each after shots were allegedly fired from a Tara property yesterday (January 18).

Police would like to thank the Tara community for their assistance yesterday in complying with police directions and adhering to the PSPA requirements. A 14-year-old local boy was dealt under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act in respect to wilful damage and weapons offences. They have both been charged with two counts each of discharge weapon in a public place, and one count each of dangerous conduct with a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon – category A, B or M, as well as three counts of wilful damage.
