MacBook Pro is free of numerous harmful substances, and 97 percent of the packaging is fiber based, bringing Apple closer to its goal of completely removing plastic from its packaging by 2025. Performance tests are conducted using specific computer systems and reflect the approximate performance of MacBook Pro. - Testing was conducted by Apple in November and December 2022 using preproduction 16-inch MacBook Pro systems with Apple M2 Pro, 12-core CPU, 19-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB SSD. With the power and popularity of Apple silicon, and new developer tools in Metal 3, gaming on Mac has never been better. MacBook Pro with M2 Pro features a 10- or 12-core CPU with up to eight high-performance and four high-efficiency cores for up to 20 percent greater performance over M1 Pro. M2 Max has a next-gen 12-core CPU with up to eight high-performance and four high-efficiency cores that delivers up to 20 percent greater performance over M1 Max, and a more powerful media engine than M2 Pro, with twice the ProRes acceleration to dramatically speed up media playback and transcoding. With up to 96GB of unified memory, MacBook Pro once again pushes the limits of graphics memory in a laptop to enable intensive graphics workloads, such as creating scenes with extreme 3D geometry and textures, or merging massive photographic panoramas. Handoff in FaceTime allows users to start a FaceTime call on their iPhone or iPad and fluidly pass it over to their Mac, or vice versa. These new capabilities build on the versatile connectivity options already in MacBook Pro, including three Thunderbolt 4 ports for high-speed connection to peripherals, an SDXC card slot, and MagSafe 3 charging. Customers can order the new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro today, with availability beginning Tuesday, January 24. MacBook Pro also maintains performance whether users are plugged in or on battery. With faster performance, enhanced connectivity, and the longest battery life ever in a Mac, along with the best display in a laptop, there’s simply nothing else like it.”

With the updated M2 MacBook Pro and Mac Mini, only one Intel Mac ... (CrackBerry.com)

Apple's impressive M-series processors just hit more laptops and desktops, leaving just one Intel Mac on sale: the Mac Pro. It's only a matter of time ...

The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is [available with a custom Qualcomm-built SQ3 processor](https://crackberry.com/e?link=https%3A%2F%2Fclick.linksynergy.com%2Fdeeplink%3Fid%3DkXQk6%252AivFEQ%26mid%3D24542%26u1%3DUUcbUdUnU193099YYwYd%26murl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.microsoft.com%252Fen-us%252Fstore%252Fconfigure%252FSurface-Pro-9%252F93VKD8NP4FVK&token=_MhlMjlV). Today Intel is staring down that same barrel that doomed PowerPC two decades ago: the potential of the old x64 architecture is close to maxed out and the ARM-powered chips by Apple and Qualcomm are eating Intel and AMD's lunch. The PowerPC processors Apple had used up to that point were effectively maxed out in performance and efficiency. Which is exactly what Apple did with the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips that were installed in the The XDR screen is incredible (yes, the notch is silly, but I barely notice it), the battery life is phenomenal, and even when I doing stuff that hits the processor hard like video rendering or 3D modeling it never skips a beat and barely even gets warm. This leaves just one Mac with an Intel processor inside: the Mac Pro. Fully max that bad boy out with 1.5TB of RAM (O_o), two AMD Radeon Pro W6800X Duo graphics cards with 64GB of memory each, 8TB of SSD storage, an Apple Afterburner PCIe accelerator card, and a $400 set of caster wheels for *gulp* $52,199. Heck, the updated Mac Mini actually got a hundred bucks less expensive, with a new starting price of $599. I've been a Mac user for a while now, and generally like the Intel-powered MacBook Pro laptops I cycled through over the last 15 years, but always had complaints about the battery life or heat or that damned butterfly keyboard and the stupid Touch Bar strip screen that replaced my beloved function keys (in truth it wasn't that bad, just mostly useless). The M-series processors are built using the same basic architecture as the A-series processors that powered over a decade of iPhones and iPads, so Apple's been at the processor design and optimization game for a while and the results have long been impressive in terms of performance and battery life. The latest Mac updates are effectively just spec bumps, but they are hastening the end of the Apple + Intel relationship. They're effectively just spec bumps: they're more or less the same excellent computers inside and out, with more powerful and efficient chips inside.

Apple launched a surprise new MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro and M2 Max. But should you really buy it?

[my favorite laptops of the past couple of years](https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/my-favorite-laptop-for-2022-is-from-2021/). It’s a high-end configuration, though, and it’s currently the only one available through Apple’s refurbished program. These are still highly capable machines, and as Apple highlights, they still have the incredible display, speakers, keyboard, and trackpad the machine is known for. In other words, this group of people want something with some decent power, but probably won’t benefit much of a change between the M1 Pro and M2 Pro. Overall, Apple claims the M2 Max has 30% faster graphics than the M1 Max, which is a substantial gen-over-gen upgrade. Because the M1 Pro represents the cheapest “discrete level” graphics you can get on a MacBook, it attracts a lot of people in that group, especially the cheaper 14-inch model. But these are not “new” laptops, hence the unceremonious nature of the surprise launch. These computers are the real deal, and have no real weakness — outside the high price, of course.

Asus Zenbook Pro 16X vs. Apple MacBook Pro 16: which wins ... (Digital Trends)

The Apple MacBook Pro 16 has enjoyed its place at the top of the heap for creators since its introduction. But the Asus ZenBook Pro 16X is aimed at ...

But for creators, there’s a good chance that the ZenBook Pro 16X could come out on top as a solid Windows alternative. It’s an incredibly long-lasting machine for one with so much power, and the ZenBook Pro 16X is unlikely to even come close. The ZenBook Pro 16X will come with six speakers total, and we can’t wait to give it a listen. We’re also still looking to test out Apple’s latest and greatest chips; the M2 Pro and M2 Max. It’s hard to say which is the better laptop without reviewing the ZenBook Pro 16X. That should maximize performance even further, and we hope that Asus sends us the high-end model to test as a more direct comparison to the MacBook Pro 16. Asus also switched to a larger haptic touchpad for the newest ZenBook Pro 16X, and that’s a welcome change. The MacBook Pro 16 can be equipped with up to the M2 Max CPU, which is a 12-core ARM CPU with 38 GPU cores. When fully configured, the ZenBook Pro 16X might be even faster than the MacBook Pro 16. The ZenBook Pro 16X has faster wireless connectivity, and both laptops feature 1080p webcams. The MacBook Pro 16 uses Apple’s Magic Keyboard, which is shallower, but has excellent keycaps and spacing, as well as the more precise and consistent switches available on a keyboard today. The MacBook Pro 16 also has a huge Force Touch haptic touchpad that sets the standard for precision and comfort.

The 16-inch models start at $2,999 with the M2 Pro chip and $4,149 for the M2 Max. What do you think about these new M2 Pro and M2 Max SoCs? I think that the Mac Mini M2 Pro is now one of the best value-for-money desktop machines you can get if you already have your displays and accessories. Furthermore, the M2 Max has double the unified memory bandwidth and up to 96GB of unified memory. Indeed, with the HDMI 2.1 update, the new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chips now supports up to four external displays, including an 8K/60Hz display and 4K displays at up to 240Hz. Apple has just released two new SoCs (systems on a chip) that are directly integrated into the new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro, as well as the updated Mac Mini: the M2 Pro and M2 Max.
