'Comedy of errors': Horror moment sums up BBL implosion as star issues apology.
Boyce struck again to snare Matt Renshaw (25 off 19) on the boundary in a “crucial blow” before the Heat were put on the backfoot when Englishman Sam Hain (6) was “very stiff” to get run-out at the non striker’s end. And finally it was the Heat’s bowlers who did the job and they restricted the Strikers to 9-137 to claim their third win of the season. But just as the Strikers appeared to be coasting with Matt Short (39 off 30) and Lynn at the crease, it was Kuhnemann who struck, snaring Lynn for 22 off 24. When Lynn got squared up by Michael Neser, former teammate Matt Renshaw opted to “have a chirp” and brought the ball to Lynn – drawing a wry smile from the Strikers’ leading run scorer. But it was the horror mix up between Cam Boyce and Colin de Grandhomme – the last recognised batsman standing in the 18th over – that summed up the spectacularly bad day, with their run out likened to the “Wacky Races”. The Adelaide Strikers have fallen apart in unbelievable scenes at Adelaide Oval as the team simply “imploded” in Saturday’s 17-run loss to the Brisbane Heat.
Brisbane's faint BBL finals hopes remain alive after their bowlers defended a seemingly modest total to defeat the Strikers by 17 runs at Adelaide Oval.
Conway was well supported with the ball by Peter Siddle (2-24), Wes Agar (2-27) and Boyce (2-29). A comical mix-up which resulted in Colin de Grandhomme (21) being run out with both he and Cameron Boyce at one end epitomised the dire plight for the Strikers, whose batting woes from their heavy loss to the Melbourne Stars at the MCG on Thursday continued. The last-placed Heat looked behind the eight ball when they were sent in and knocked over for 154, before holding the Strikers to 9-137 off their 20 overs.

Adelaide Strikers v Brisbane Heat, Big Bash League 2022-23 - report, result, score, scorecard - James Bazley, Harry Conway, Adelaide | The Cricketer, ...
Bazley finished with 3 for 30 before Spencer Johnson (1 for 28) and Michael Neser (1 for 30) returned to the attack to take wickets in the final two overs to wrap up victory. A wretched performance was summed up in the 18th over when Colin de Grandhomme (20) was run-out when both he and Cameron Boyce ended up at the same end attempting to run a second off a misfield. Chris Lynn (39) and Alex Carey (2) followed in the sixth and seventh overs and 73 were needed from 46 balls when Matthew Short (39) was caught at the wicket off James Bazley.
The competition's all-time leading run-scorer finishes a sensational 11-game stint with the Strikers as new captain Travis Head hopes the club can re-sign ...
"He's probably been the signing of the summer to be honest in the competition. While Lynn is yet to re-sign with the Strikers for next season, he will return to Northamptonshire for the T20 Blast during the Australian winter after crunching 516 runs striking at almost 160 last year that secured him a marquee deal in the ILT20 and put him back on the radar of BBL clubs. The fresh start and a new role at a new club has provided Lynn with his second best BBL campaign ever in terms of runs scored and it's that change of scenery that Strikers assistant coach Johan Botha says has been great for him. He finishes his BBL "He's been excellent chatting to younger batters and his input in team meetings has been excellent." "It's his career, he wants to get what he wants out of it, and he's played 11 really fantastic games for us."

Siddle, Boyce, Conway's efforts with the ball in vain for Strikers in Lynn's last BBL game of the season.
Boyce smartly took pace off the ball to lure Brown into a false shot for his first wicket of the season. There was intrigue if the left-arm quick could back it up and Johnson did just that with a maiden over to start, where he hit speeds of 150kmh to fluster Lynn. It led to being recruited by Strikers, who wanted suitable cover for Rashid which has proven prophetic so far. Johnson then claimed his maiden BBL wicket with a perfect yorker to knock over Wes Agar to cap another fine performance. But he was bogged down by Johnson before falling to Kuhnemann for 22 off 24 balls. He made just six, but Heat had cobbled together a total that surprisingly proved more than enough.

Conway was well supported with the ball by Peter Siddle (2-24), Wes Agar (2-27) and Boyce (2-29). Earlier, Harry Conway justified his selection ahead of fellow quick Henry Thornton by taking a career-best 3-36, including the key scalps of Marnus Labuschagne (46) and Usman Khawaja (two).
