Bachman–Turner Overdrive drummer Robbie Bachman dies aged 69 (The Guardian)

Musician played with brother Randy in a band that reached peak in the 70s, with several albums and hit single Roll on Down the Highway.

After 1979’s Rock N’ Roll Nights, Bachman–Turner Overdrive briefly disbanded, before reforming in 1983. The band’s third album, Not Fragile, bolstered their mainstream success and included Roll on Down the Highway, a hit single co-written by Robbie Bachman and Fred Turner. He and his brother began playing music in their youth, and Robbie played in a handful of bands in Winnipeg before Randy invited him to drum for Brave Belt, his new band with Chad Allan, with whom he had played in the celebrated Winnipeg rock band the Guess Who.

The brothers rarely performed together after the early 1990s, with Robbie Bachman once telling the Associated Press that Randy had "belittled" the other band members and likened them to the fictional parody group Spinal Tap. During the following decades, the band had sporadic reunions and occasional legal battles, as Randy Bachman and Robbie Bachman fought over royalties and rights to the band's name. "He was an integral cog in our rock'n'roll machine and we rocked the world together."
