Roberto Bautista Agut ended Thanasi Kokkinakis' hopes of a second ATP Tour title in his hometown with semi-final victory at the ATP 250 event.

The 11-time tour-level champion Bautista Agut’s run in Adelaide has added to his track record of performing strongly in the opening weeks of the ATP Tour season. 84 struck 44 winners to his opponent’s 36, and he also excelled whenever he came under pressure on serve — Kwon saved nine of 10 break points he faced en route to levelling his ATP Head2Head series with Draper at 1-1. A break of Kokkinakis' serve in the second game proved enough for the World No. Kokkinakis was enjoying another strong run in his hometown after lifting his maiden ATP Tour title there in 2022.

Roberto Bautista Agut saved 11 of 12 break points on his way to a semi-final victory over local hope and defending champion Thanasi Kokkinakis in Adelaide.

His second break of serve secured the match, Kwon hitting 48 winners in total as he sets his sights on a second ATP title. He'll carry formidable form in too, the world No.110 beating No.6 Andrey Rublev and the 28th-ranked Miomir Kecmanovic on his way to the final four. The Spaniard's armour held firm though, Bautista Agut saving three break points in his first service game and five more in his third.

Thanasi Kokkinakis played another solid match in his hometown of Adelaide but he was unable to get the job done against Bautista Agut 6-7(4) 6-3 3-6.

He won it 6-3 but failed to follow it up with a strong performance in the final set. He also allowed only one break point to Bautista Agut and the Spaniard took it. The second set was one where Kokkinakis finally found his form of recent days outhitting Bautista comfortably.

He broke a distracted Kokkinakis for the first and only time in the match in between, the Australian briefly rattled after an incredible drop shot while back pedalling saved one of those eight chances to break.
