Frank Ocean, Blackpink and Bad Bunny will all take to the main stage of North America's largest music festival.

The Puerto Rican superstar’s 2022 tour was also the year’s top grosser; though this is only his second Coachella performance (the first being in 2019), the set is sure to draw a massive crowd. Now they’ll be hitting the stage with their second album, Born Pink. The three main headliners for the massive festival in Indio, California are Frank Ocean, Blackpink and Bad Bunny — with the latter two representing the first K-pop act and the first artist from Latin America to headline the festival, respectively.

Coachella's 2023 Lineup One Day Later: Highlights, Lowlights ... (Consequence)

From the return of Frank Ocean to some glaring omissions, we're breaking down this year's Coachella lineup with brutal honesty.

Having two out of the three headliners for the biggest festival in North America be non-native English speakers, with wildly different aesthetics and cultural backdrops, is a major success on Coachella’s part, and it reflects our modern community of music lovers: global, distinct, and genreless. Of those seven, only one is native to the Unites States — and that’s Frank Ocean, who hasn’t performed since 2017 and is set to be making a significant return this year. As usual, [Coachella’s deeply curated lineup](https://consequence.net/2023/01/coachella-2023-lineup/) is sure to be the marquee American festival in 2023 — but, perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s one of the most non-American lineups in recent memory.

5 Takeaways from the Coachella 2023 Lineup (Pitchfork)

The music festival season kicks off with a poster featuring Frank Ocean, a welcomed international bent, and most surprisingly, the elusive Jai Paul.

Then again, [Ocean’s 2012 Coachella performance](https://pitchfork.com/news/46139-watch-frank-oceans-entire-coachella-set/) loomed large in his early rise—for years, that red-and-white headband seemed to be in every news photo—so here’s hoping he’s got something very special planned for 2023. As far as evidence that Ocean might have a new project in the works, three years after his [last loosies](https://pitchfork.com/news/frank-ocean-releases-new-songs-dear-april-and-cayendo/), it isn’t much—but it’s something. Next, in a highly unusual move, Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett announced [way back in August 2021](https://pitchfork.com/news/frank-ocean-to-headline-coachella-2023-festival-co-founder-says/) that Ocean would be headlining in 2023. [Frank Ocean](https://pitchfork.com/artists/29508-frank-ocean/) on it in big letters. [Bonnaroo](https://pitchfork.com/news/kendrick-lamar-to-headline-bonnaroo-2023/) and a few others this year, but the [unveiling](https://pitchfork.com/news/coachella-2023-full-lineup-announced/) of its bill— [headlined](https://pitchfork.com/news/coachella-2023-headliners-bad-bunny-blackpink-frank-ocean/) by Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK, and Frank Ocean—feels like the unofficial start of music festival season.
