"I was really impressed this morning to be down on beach and to have a look at the Millions and the horses racing along the beach, and every precaution was taken. Officials for the Magic Millions event managed to capture the horses nearby in Alberta Avenue and place them in a horse float. Two horses involved in the Magic Millions beach race have been recaptured after they escaped and toured the streets of Surfers Paradise for 20 minutes.

The Magic Millions carnival begins with a public event, where onlookers line the beach to watch top jockeys and celebrities alike hold mock races along the famous glitter strip. The two animals were being ridden along The Esplanade at Surfers Paradise for the Magic Millions event on Tuesday morning when they became loose, with initial reports a jockey had been thrown.

This is ahead of the annual race day at the Gold Coast Turf Club this weekend. Hundreds of people gathered on Surfers Paradise beach this morning to watch the barrier draw unfold. At least 10 people tried to capture the horses, which travelled about 10 kilometres up the Gold Coast Highway.
