Djokovic saved the match point with a nerveless overhead smash before coming up with the goods to level the match. The second set was a tight affair but Korda earned a championship point on Djokovic's serve. Djokovic also had a moment to forget when he framed a shot into the crowd during his own set point.

Novak Djokovic saved one championship point on Sunday evening before rallying past Sebastian Korda to win the Adelaide International 1 title.

Despite the disappointment of letting slip his opportunity, Korda continued to battle. With Djokovic serving at 5-6, 30/40 in the second set, Korda needed just one more clutch strike to earn the biggest win of his career. He has won 34 consecutive matches in Australia since the start of 2019 and 23 of his past 24 matches overall. From there, he surged through the tie-break and forced a decider. Djokovic saved championship point at 5-6 in the second set before rallying past the American 6-7(8), 7-6(3), 6-4 after a gruelling three hours and nine minutes. But in trademark fashion the Serbian found a way to win his 92nd tour-level title.

Novak Djokovic continued his ideal preparation for the Australian Open after overcoming Sebastian Korda 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 in the Adelaide International final.

Djokovic would break Korda on his serve in a brilliant tenth game to sum up the exhilarating tennis on display, winning the decisive set 6-4. Korda would not go away quietly, and fought off two break points for Djokovic to win the fourth game on his serve and levelled things off at 2-2. After winning the next game to 30 and moving 6-5 ahead, Korda was able to stave off a set a point for Djokovic to move the score to 6-6 ahead of an absorbing tie-break. The American ultimately prevailed on his fourth set point in the tie-break, as the first set was decided after a mammoth one hour and 14 minutes. Djokovic showed brilliant fighting spirit to save three set points to keep himself in the contest and level the score at 5-5 to break Korda on his serve. The first eight games all went to serve, before the American broke Djokovic for the first time in the match to move 5-4 ahead.

Novak Djokovic warmed up for his Australian Open return by clinching the Adelaide International title with a thrilling victory over Sebastian Korda.

โ€œItโ€™s been an amazing week and you guys made it even more special,โ€ Djokovic said during the trophy ceremony, according to atptour.com. I gave it all today and throughout the week in order to be able to get my hands on the trophy. The 21-times grand slam champion tapped his right index finger to his head in recognition of his own resilience after sealing victory when the 22-year-old Korda sent a forehand long.
