Jabeur had a 1st round BYE so this was her first match and she proved pretty comfortable overall beating Cirstea 7-6(3) 6-1 to move on to the next round.

She didn't serve well and that was a problem giving Cirstea many looks on the second serve where she did a lot of damage. She served a lot better and was in better rhythm cruising to a 6-1 finish for her first win in Australia. Jabeur was up a break twice in the opening set but allowed Cirstea to battle back both times.
