'I'm not doing it again': Cursed coach's lament after wild BBL ... (Fox Sports)

A bowling masterclass from Sydney Sixers quick Ben Dwarshuis has delivered the Sydney Sixers an upset 34-run win over the visiting Melbourne Renegades.

And the drama continued when Dan Christian was caught behind (7) off Richardson in the 17th over, after the Sixers took the power surge. But Philippe (55 off 40) waylaid a poor ramp shot straight to Hosein at short fine leg in the 12th over, leaving the Sixers 2-91. For the Sixers, veteran spinner Steve O’Keefe was ruled out after a hamstring injury suffered in Monday night’s clash. Two balls later, Hayden Kerr (1) chipped it straight to Martin Guptill at long on - meaning Mujeeb picked up two wickets for just one run in a remakable power surge over. The Renegades made four changes from their last match, including the introduction of two debutants in Kiwi Martin Guptill and Peter Handscomb. That came after fielder Jono Wells just missed a tough chance to catch Philippe in the deep. But he landed in Australia only yesterday in a restricted preparation, and his debut left plenty to be desired, being caught for behind a duck f Dwarshuis. Sent into bat, the Sixers looked to be on track for a strong total after a stout half-century from Josh Philippe. it was nice to go out there and execute that (plan).” But immediately afterwards, Hayden Kerr clean bowled Shaun Marsh (28 off 25), leaving them 3-63. “He’s pumped that!” “It was pretty simplified out there...

Sydney Sixers opener Josh Philippe outshone the highly regarded Melbourne Renegades batting line-up to help set up a 34-run BBL victory.

Renegades skipper Nic Maddinson won the bat flip and sent the hosts in but Philippe turned to his home ground expertise on the way to a 15th BBL 50. The Sixers (3-2) have now won three consecutive matches – all at the SCG – to resurrect their season, while the Renegades (3-2) have lost two in a row after their promising start. The Sixers set the Renegades a target of 150, a total that looked like being much more when Philippe (55 off 40 balls) was on song but proved to be enough as the visitors spluttered to be all out for 115.

After a sedate start, he wound back the clock with an assault on spin in the sixth and seventh overs. Renegades were staring down the barrel until Sutherland dismissed Philippe and James Vince to change the momentum. Patterson was the highest run-scorer for champions Perth Scorchers last season before deciding to return home. Having played just one BBL match a decade ago, Guptill lasted only four deliveries while Marsh struggled early in his return from nagging calf issues. Dwarshuis was handed the ball when Renegades took the power surge in the 17th over. After being hit for a huge six from Will Sutherland, which slightly tarnished his almost flawless figures, Dwarshuis gained revenge on the next ball and then capped his stellar performance with the wicket of Peter Handscomb.
