A fourth child in the space of two days has been flown to hospital from Fraser Island suffering suspected Irukandji jellyfish stings.

The pilot landed the aircraft on a sandbar close to where the child had been stung while swimming near a popular campsite. She is also believed to have been stung on the upper chest by an Irukandji jellyfish while swimming at the same creek location. It is believed the sisters, aged five and nine, had been playing in the water at a well-known creek on the western side of the island, when they suffered the stings to their upper bodies.
