Gerry Beckley from ’70s rockers America is in town, so here he is to lead his new friends through an exuberant take on Sister Golden Hair. Especially when that gig is to take place straight after this one (at midnight in Moore Park), suggesting not only have you, the punter, chosen the potentially less special gig in the first place, but that the band might not be giving it everything they’ve got at this first arena show. But here’s where a smattering of Vegas illusion comes in.

For the next hour, a lucky few hundred watched as the unfatigued band powered through another round of catalogue classics and obscure fan favourites. Brightside’, the night ended for most of the audience. Even when it seems like you’ve done it all, you have to go back out there with something to prove – and The Killers, evidently, are in it for the long haul. Considering how dated many singles from that era sound in 2022, it’s to The Killers’ credit that their hits have survived in this way.
