Australian actor Paul Mercurio has opened up about his “wake up call” after being taken to the hospital critical care unit for a heart issue.

For no reason whatsoever, and I guess there was that point where I thought: ‘There is no way I can control this. “But I’ve got to say, since I had COVID a couple of years ago it’s gotten worse ... and this year I’ve had about seven attacks. “That night I went into a-fib again. He was discharged on Tuesday. “Standing out in the street and feeling your heart go all over the shop was not a real pleasant experience,” Mercurio said on Wednesday.

The 59-year-old has been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, which is an irregular heart rhythm, and says campaigning during the election took its toll.
