Detectives believe William Tyrrell's foster mother knows where his body is, a Sydney court has heard.

“She’s going to have a massive welt on her leg,” the secret recording said. A harrowing recording of the 10-year-old allegedly screaming “no, please no” and sobbing as she was allegedly hit with a wooden spoon was played to the court. She denied using a spoon to hit the girl, but police who secretly bugged the family home and her phone say two recordings prove otherwise.

Under cross examination from Mr Stratton, a senior Detective on the investigation told the court that he believed that the foster mother was aware of where William was buried.

Det Sgt Andrew Lonergan 'formed the view' that the woman knows the location of the missing boy.

In a later phone call intercepted by police, the woman is heard telling her husband: “She’s still going on about it.” The court heard a woman on the recording say: “Where’d you put the wooden spoon?” A woman is then heard telling the child to “stand up” three times.

The officer in charge of the William Tyrrell investigation has told a court he believes the missing boy's foster mother knows where the child is buried.

Sgt Andrew Lonergan told the court. Under cross examination from defence barrister John Stratton, a senior detective on the investigation told the court that he believed that the foster mother was aware of where William was buried. The court was told that it is alleged the foster mother lied to the crime commission when she denied striking the child.

A senior detective has made a damning public admission on the suspected whereabouts of missing boy William Tyrrell whose body has never been found.

“Where’d you put the wooden spoon?” the court heard a woman on the recording say. A woman is then heard telling the child to “stand up” three times. Audio recording from listening devices placed in the home of William Tyrell’s former foster mother recorded what police allege is the woman hitting a child, who is not the missing boy, with a wooden spoon.
