The factors in their model included past prize money (value), odds (sentiment), odds dispersion, form and win percentage (quality) as well as wet track hit rate, barrier and how many times a horse had won over the distance. “During weaker economic regimes, higher quality businesses with pricing power prevail. Horse racing-Deauville Legend favourite to win Melbourne Cup (ThePrint)

Rated 5/2, the James Ferguson-trained Deauville Legend brings strong form to Flemington Racecourse after winning the Great Voltigeur Stakes in August. Starting ...

Deauville Legend is one of only two international entrants in a field reduced to 23 after the scratching of Point Nepean on Monday. “I can’t be sending the horse into the race in better form, I feel, so the rest is up to him. MELBOURNE (Reuters) – British stayer Deauville Legend is strong favourite to win the A$8 million ($5.13 million) Melbourne Cup on Tuesday but a forecast for heavy rain could tip the “race that stops the nation” on its head.

'I'm delighted to be on him': McEvoy out to become a Cup legend ... (The Age)

Kerrin McEvoy is as confident about the chances of Melbourne Cup favourite Deauville Legend as he was with Almandin and Cross Counter.

This will be the first time I will have my family at Flemington on Cup day. Montefilia ran fourth in the Caulfield Cup without a lot of luck and she will relish the two miles at Flemington. I’ll just need to get him comfortable in the first half of the race. You’re trying to execute the plan you have in your head. There are fundamentals to riding in the Cup. If things are going your way early the confidence levels will start to build. You want to get into stride nicely and to be somewhere in the first half of the field - midfield is great. I think he will get the two miles, but you’re never sure until you are well along the Flemington straight. Personally, I would love to give trainer James Ferguson and owner Bon Ho the indescribable feeling of winning the Cup. The Cup is the race you dream about as a kid, especially as a jockey. I did on Brew, which launched my career in 2000. I can’t answer that right now.

Deauville Legend: Who is the Melbourne Cup favourite? - Pundit Feed (Pundit Feed)

A total of 24 races will be competing for the coveted Melbourne Cup trophy in tomorrow's race. Yet of the 24 horses racing, there can only be one winner.

This is backed up by the odds of 3.50 that he has at most bookmakers. We’ve simply listed the odds for him to win, at the time of writing. Nothing is a guarantee in the world of horse racing. However, one fact that cannot be argued is that the three titles that McEvoy has at the Melbourne Cup puts him in the top list of winning jockeys of all-time at the Melbourne Cup. So no, he isn’t guaranteed to win the Melbourne Cup. These are the numbers given by mainstream bookmakers that indicate the likelihood of the horse winning the event. To give that a bit of context from a betting perspective – if you bet $100 on Deauville Legend and he won, you’d get a return of $350. This man has trained many successful horses over the years, yet he hasn’t been a household name for champion horses as far as the Melbourne Cup is concerned. Starting with the trainer, he is a man by the name of James Ferguson. All of the ins and outs that have put Deauville Legend at the top of the favourites list will be discussed throughout. Of course, form means how they have performed in recent races, or at least in races of a similar structure to the Melbourne Cup. However, some speculate that his weight of 55kg isn’t quite low enough to carry his speed and strength for the whole 3,200m track at Flemington.

Deauville Legend leads a competitive Melbourne Cup (Horse Racing Nation)

Australian jockey Kerrin McEvoy is riding for history, as he seeks a record-equaling 4th Group 1 Melbourne Cup win on Monday night.

Michael also performed a race call voiceover for a Seinfeld episode called The Subway. Apart from Flemington, no fewer than 30 Australian tracks will conduct live thoroughbred racing on Melbourne Cup Day. Hosier won the Coffs Harbour Cup (300 miles north of Sydney’s world-famous harbour) at The Big Dance’s one-mile distance, then repeated the result at Randwick. (It is barely an exaggeration to say that every Aussie town has a pub, a post office and a racetrack!) She has placed at this distance and is effective on wet tracks, and carries a featherweight of 110 pounds. 13 Serpentine (80-1): He is another whose last win is a distant memory, but it was oh-so-significant. Since he’s been in the wilderness for so long, he has dropped way lower in the weights (119 pounds) than a past Melbourne Cup winner would normally be. 7 Camorra (50-1): An Irish gelding, he was victorious in the G2 Curragh Cup – a race won by two of the last five Melbourne Cup winners. 4 Montefilia (10-1): Her fourth placing in the Caulfield Cup, at 1-1/2 miles, was unlucky and eye-catching - the best performance in the race. He finished fourth in the 2020 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and was based in Australia for the past year. Tellingly, Deauville Legend left a horse named El Bodegon four lengths in his wake at York; El Bodegon recently made his Australian debut with an excellent third-place finish in a top-quality weight-for-age race, the Cox Plate (G1). Melbourne Cup Day is an annual public holiday in the state of Victoria, and a post-pandemic party of more than 100,000 people will flood Flemington Racecourse.

Melbourne Cup history beckons for McEvoy (The West Australian)

Kerrin McEvoy will have a record-equalling fourth Melbourne Cup win in his sights when he rides UK stayer Deauville Legend in the $8 million race.

Deauville Legend held firm as a clear-cut favourite at the Cup eve Call of the Card as a $3.60. He says Deauville Legend reminds him of Cross Counter as a northern hemisphere three-year-old who is on his way through the staying ranks. And he will do it on one of the shortest-priced favourites of the modern era as English stayer Deauville Legend tries to add his name to the honour roll of international winners of Australia's greatest race.

Melbourne Cup: Betr avoids disaster as Deauville Legend fades (The Australian Financial Review)

After the race, one Betr employee simply texted: “Gold Tripp hahaha.” Mr Tripp's Betr launched earlier this month, promising new customers long odds on sporting ...

The company placed bets on Deauville Legend with Tabcorp that reduced their exposure by around $10 million. Several sources in the gaming industry estimated that the start-up was looking at a loss of somewhere between $20 to $50 million if Deauville Legend prevailed. The promotion led to tens of thousands of new customers signing up to the app. Many bet $10 on the favourites of the Melbourne Cup, primarily Deauville Legend, with the hope of $1000 payouts. That was on the start-up’s second day in operation, and the probe is ongoing. Mr Tripp’s Betr launched earlier this month, promising new customers long odds on sporting events and marquee races in the spring carnival.
