But even as I say it, I'm like, Carlos Sainz has been driving so strong, he's amazing, Lando is starting to peak at the right time, so it's hard to say. He'll be like, ‘I was in Monaco in 1999 and this happened’, and having that experience of a guy knowing how hard it was and doing it at the highest level and succeeding, it's really, really cool. Max [Verstappen] looks really unbeatable, we all see it week to week, he just finds a way to drive faster, drive smarter, just make all the right moves. ESPN's taking a greater interest in it as well, and now I think that Amazon getting involved, I think it's going to change the game. I know Danny [Ricciardo] a little bit and I love him but I still have so much respect for him and what he does. I have more and more friends who say, "Don't tell me what happened because I'm recording the race and I want to watch it later." There's so much fun to be had in Formula 1, it's such a great thing, so I think we're trying to bring that kind of energy. So they heard Danny Ricciardo on Smartless, then subsequent to that, when Amp decided that they wanted to get into this space in F1, obviously they got Mika Hakkinen, who's a two-time champ and a legend, then they got other sports people like Katie Osborne and Michelle Beadle, who can speak to sports and know how to drive sports commentary, and The Kid Mero. And I'm learning on the job and hopefully people listening are kind of learning with me. Like a lot of people, Formula 1 was something that kind of existed out there and that I would sort of not really pay attention to. It was so immediate that I found myself looking at, not just the races, but I've got to watch qualis, I've got to see all of it, because you get into the drama of it all. What you might not associate with Will Arnett is a love of Formula 1.

US Grand Prix: F1 – live (The Guardian)

With Carlos Sainz on pole ahead of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, this promises to be a fierce contest. Who will win? Join Beau Dure to find out.

“It’s tremendously disappointing for a fellow competitor to accuse you of cheating. In Austin for this weekend’s today’s US Grand Prix Red Bull’s breach overshadowed events on the track. For those who love tires (or, as it’s spelled in proper English, “tires”), all the top drivers are on mediums. [Formula One](https://www.theguardian.com/sport/formulaone) today, it seems appropriate to note the passing of Dietrich Mateschitz, the builder of the Red Bull empire of energy drinks and sports. He’ll have a full-time gig next year as long as he gets enough points toward his “Super Licence.” (Funny – in most US states, getting points on your license is a bad thing.) So back on track, so to speak – we’re getting late in the season now, so we should all be captivated by this thrilling title race between Max Verstappen and …

Just behind, Leclerc jumps Stroll into P3 but the Ferrari man is still yet to pit in this race. He flies down the back straight and squeezes past Perez on the inside of the corner. The Dutchman gained six tenths in that last lap alone and he now sits just 2.3 seconds off the pace. With nine laps left of this race, Verstappen has closed the gap to Hamilton down to 1.6 seconds. The Dutchman closes down the back straight and dives into the apex. The pressure continues to build with Hamilton still in his DRS zone.

'Someone's grabbing hold of me': F1 icon's awkward Brad Pitt snub (Fox Sports)

Formula 1 legend Martin Brundle has delivered another iconic grid walk at the United States Grand Prix, including a mortifying moment with Brad Pitt.

His opening introduction when speaking with Tre Cool was also pure Brundle, asking the American: “Is this going to be a boulevard of broken dreams?” [Security-minders were supposed to have a limited presence on the grid](https://www.news.com.au/sport/motorsport/formula-one/f1-bosses-change-grand-prix-rules-after-martin-brundles-live-tv-snub/news-story/9ddb7dd775164e41988ae71fdbaad824) after last year’s infamous clash between Brundle and Megan Thee Stallion. “Somebody was grabbing hold of my shoulder,” Brundle told the TV audience with a grin. That’s when a hand was placed on the back of Brundle’s shoulder. It is a famously awkward segment, but it took a frosty turn on Monday when Pitt pushed past him before a member of the Hollywood star’s entourage put a hand on Brundle’s shoulder. The popular commentator was conducting his traditional grid walk segment where he walks along the starting grid speaking to VIPs and celebrities in the final minutes before the start of the race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Ricciardo shuts down bombshell report (NEWS.com.au)

Daniel Ricciardo has shut down reports of a return to his former stomping ground with Red Bull.

So that only leaves Red Bull, the (only two) teams who have a reserve driver on hand at every race.” “So I won’t completely disconnect from the sport, but obviously nothing’s guaranteed for ’24,” he added. Pressed on which team Ricciardo is headed to, Kravitz added: “We thought Mercedes, because they now have a vacancy given that Nyck De Vries, their reserve driver is going to Alpha Tauri. So he told us on Thursday, he will be around about the F1 paddock next year.” “I’m just putting in a plan to honestly try to get me back to the front of the grid and win races and do all the stuff I know I can do.” A move to Red Bull would allow Ricciardo to keep one foot in the F1 paddock in 2023, even if he is watching the action from the sidelines. Red Bull and Mercedes are one of only a handful of teams that bring a reserve driver to every race on the F1 calendar. Ricciardo confirmed his intentions remained set on landing a seat on the grid in 2024 and that he would be around. After parting ways with McLaren, Ricciardo won’t be one of the main 20 drivers in Formula 1 next season, opting to step away from the grid with a view to securing a full-time drive at a competitive team in 2024.
