Apple iPad 2022: The Biggest Update Yet, But There's A Catch (Forbes)

The new model costs $449 for the 64GB wifi model, $599 if you want cellular connectivity, too. There's also a 256GB storage model: $599 for wifi only, $749 with ...

This is the most significant difference between the two, I’d say. It’s moved to the power button, a place it also occupies on the iPad mini and iPad Air. You’ll need to buy the adaptor ($9) to be able to connect it. There’s a 10.9-inch display, identical to the one on the pricier iPad Air. This adds a small complication: the new iPad is compatible with the first-generation Apple Pencil, which is charged and paired using a Lightning connector. The Apple iPad 10th generation will go on sale on Wednesday, October 26, with pre-orders starting today.

iPad line-up: Something for everyone, or a confusing mess? (9to5Mac)

iPad 9: $329 · iPad 10: $449 · iPad mini: $499 · iPad Air: $599 · 11-inch iPad Pro: $799 · 12.9-inch iPad Pro: $1,099.

There’s no equivalent of the iPhone 14 Plus in the iPad line-up, so if all you want is a bigger screen, you’re going to have to pay for all the Pro features to get it. From a consumer perspective, and iPad 10 Plus would be a great option, but the fact is that enough people are willing to pay the Pro premium for the size, so that’s all money in Apple’s pocket. Compact size is the only benefit, but if you want a small iPad, you want a small iPad. Is is worth almost twice as much as the iPad 9 we were looking at in the first place? If I were going to remove one model from the line-up, this would be it. If you need one or more Pro features and/or want a large screen (and can afford it!), buy the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. If you just want an iPad for everyday needs, are happy with a small screen, and don’t have a specific need for any of the Pro features, buy the base model (but with more storage). But if you’re going to spend $n more, then for just $n+ you could move up to the next model and … The display is better (P3 rather than sRGB), and you also get anti-reflective coating, which is a small thing that can make a big difference. It’s just a pretty big price jump for the prettier screen and some spec improvements that probably don’t much matter to an entry-level iPad buyer. With the latest changes, what is Apple’s iPad line-up now? You start by looking at the base model of something, then tell yourself that for just $n more, you could have features X, Y, and Z.

iPad Pro 2022 vs iPad Air 2022: What are the biggest differences? (TrustedReviews)

Apple recently unveiled this year's update to its high-end tablet line with the iPad Pro 2022. But, how does it compare to the iPad Air 2022?

The iPad Pro takes advantage of a second rear camera. That means the iPad Air is $200 / £330 cheaper if you’re looking at the Wi-Fi only models, or $250 / £360 less for the Wi-Fi + Cellular models of the same size. This is significantly more than the 256GB available on the iPad Air. The M1 is the same processor that powers the iPad Air 2022. The iPad Air is available in five colours that includes a handful of eye-catching pastel shades: Space Grey, Starlight, Pink, Purple and Blue. But, how does it compare to the next model down, the [iPad Air 2022](https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/ipad-air-2022)?

Comparison: New 10.9-inch iPad vs. iPad Air (AppleInsider)

The redesigned entry-level iPad is closer to the iPad Air than ever. Here's how they compare. Apple released two 10.9-inch iPads in 2022 with very different ...

Apple still sells the 10.2-inch iPad at $329, then the new 10.9-inch iPad is $449. There are too many limitations and drawbacks to using the 10.9-inch iPad for art, though it is possible. The iPad Air 5 uses the Apple Pencil 2 thanks to a dedicated magnetic charging pad on one side of the tablet. Apple introduced a new keyboard for the 10.9-inch iPad with an integrated trackpad called the Magic Keyboard Folio. Both the iPad Air and the 10.9-inch iPad offer about 10 hours of battery life during regular use. It was later introduced in [iPad Pro](https://appleinsider.com/inside/ipad-pro) and trickled down to the iPad Air in 2022. Spec-wise, this front-facing camera is identical to the iPad Air, and both include support for Center Stage. There is very little to differentiate the 10.9-inch iPad and iPad Air 5 at a glance besides color. The iPad's display panel is identical to the iPad Air 5, with a couple of important exceptions. A laminated display, like the one found in the iPad Air 5, enables content to appear closer to the surface of the display glass. The iPad Air 5 has P3 and a laminated display, both features which target artists directly. iPad Air 5

Apple chose a bad year to launch expensive iPads that aren't ... (AppleInsider)

Apple's new iPad, iPad Pro, and Apple TV updates are less than stellar, yet the company is charging us as if they are.

That camera move is not yet any particular benefit, and it's handicapping the iPad to have it solely able to use an Apple Pencil that should have been discontinued by now. And it also isn't sufficiently great enough that it should harm sales of the iPad Air. It definitely has the data to know when a refresh is needed to keep sales up, but this time that seems to be all these releases can do. The new iPad is physically just a few fractions of an inch taller and wider than the 9th generation model, but the bezels are thin enough that the screen has gone from 10.2 inches to 10.9 inches. Still, it is better than the A13 Bionic in the previous 9th generation iPad — but the question is whether it's worth the price increase. However, Apple now has to further complicate the Apple Pencil by creating an adapter to let users charge it on the new iPad. You might want the new features of the 10th generation model, but not enough that you'll sell off the old one and upgrade. Ultimately, users have still got to make the mark they want in the app that they want it to. It is faster, certainly, and you will surely notice that over the long term if you continually stretch the iPad Pro to its limits. It's very cleverly done, and it involves the iPad Pro recognizing the angle of the Pencil as well as its proximity. But then you can say that about the new hover mode for Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro. It would have been cut because the new iPad and [iPad Pro](https://appleinsider.com/inside/ipad-pro) are ultimately not significant.

Apple's New iPad Lineup Causes Potential Confusion With ... (Mac Rumors)

[M2](https://www.macrumors.com/guide/m2/) Apple silicon chip. The [iPad mini](https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/ipad-mini/) is also an option for customers who solely want the smallest and most portable iPad possible. The iPad Pro is offered in 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes and is the only iPad model with advanced features like ProMotion, a LiDAR scanner, a USB‑C connector with support for Thunderbolt, and [Face ID](https://www.macrumors.com/guide/mask-face-id/). Design-wise, the new iPad is the first to feature a landscape [FaceTime](https://www.macrumors.com/guide/facetime/) camera. [Touch ID](https://www.macrumors.com/guide/touch-id/) sensor embedded in the Power button, a 10.9-inch display, a single camera system, and support for 5G. Between the three iPad models, customers are left to choose between differences in performance, design, and compatibility for Apple Pencil. With [iPadOS 16](https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/ipados-16/), however, there are some ways the M1 chip will enable newer experiences not available on the entry-level iPad, most notably [Stage Manager](https://www.macrumors.com/guide/stage-manager/). The first-generation Apple Pencil requires a Lightning port in order to charge, unlike the newer model which charges magnetically. One of the newest additions to the iPad lineup is the 10th-generation entry-level iPad. While the M1 chip is more powerful than the A14 Bionic, customers are unlikely to see major differences in day-to-day use. The wide range of choices, inconsistent features, and confusing compatibility with accessories may be a source of confusion for customers looking for a new iPad. The new iPad, however, is eerily similar to the fifth-generation

Overall, the 2022 iPad Pro is a sensible upgrade that ought to give you more than enough power to do whatever tasks you throw at it. The M2 chip is the headline feature here, but it’s not the only selling point for the 2022 iPad Pro. The sixth-generation 2022 iPad Pro is powered by the company’s new M2 chip, the same chip that runs the latest MacBook Pro. If you want to accessorize your 2022 iPad Pro, you can pick up an Apple Pencil 2nd generation and a Smart Keyboard Folio. The display on the 11-inch iPad Pro is a little lower-specced with a peak brightness of 600 nits, but it’s still an improvement over the standard iPad screen. This year’s model of Apple’s iPad Pro is a beast.

Why the M1 iPad Pro may be a better buy for now than the new M2 ... (9to5Mac)

Meanwhile, the cameras are the same as on the M1 iPad Pro, and Apple hasn’t brought the Mini-LED display to the smaller 11-inch model. The big news about the new iPad Pro is definitely the M2 chip. There were rumors about the new iPad Pro getting inductive wireless charging somehow, but that didn’t happen either. Some of us were expecting a more significant update for the new iPad Pro than what actually appeared. This is a much requested change by many iPad users, but the new iPad Pro didn’t get it. Here’s why the M1 iPad Pro is still a great option.

Apple Reveals iPad Pro 2022: Faster, With Striking Upgrades But 2 ... (Forbes)

The new iPad Pro comes in two sizes, with 11-inch and 12.9-inch displays, as now.

The new iPad Pro goes on sale on Wednesday, October 26, with pre-orders open now. When you hover your Apple Pencil above the iPad Pro, it will be detected, and show a preview of where your stylus is going to touch the screen. There’s a new feature coming to the existing second-generation Apple Pencil. Most importantly, the processor has been updated from the already blazing-fast M1 chip to the new M2. This means that most of us can have a cool experience, but the most demanding users will really benefit, so they can work with big photo libraries or manipulate 3D objects onscreen. Many previous rumors suggested that the 11-inch model iPad Pro would be upgraded to have the miniLED backlighting, called Liquid Retina XDR introduced on the iPad Pro 12.9-inch.

The New iPads Have Been “Supercharged” and “Redesigned”, But ... (The Latch)

At an Apple event on Wednesday, October 19, the tech giant unveiled a “completely redesigned”, 10th Gen iPad and a “supercharged”, 6th Gen iPad Pro.

Also in the line-up is an iPad Pro, which comes in an 11-inch model and a 12.9-inch. As for the iPad Pro, appearance-wise, it doesn’t look too different from 2021’s model. The most significant differences between the two are the M2 chip and Apple Pencil, which might not be enough to justify an upgrade. It all comes down to what you plan on using the iPad for. “Powered by the M2 chip, the new iPad Pro features incredible performance and the most advanced technologies, including a next-level Apple Pencil hover experience, ProRes video capture, superfast wireless connectivity, and powerful iPadOS 16 features. The new iPad comes in four colours — blue, pink, yellow, and silver — and has a more squared design and more screen space than its predecessor.
