'The Rings of Power' stars Morfydd Clark, Daniel Weyman, and Markella Kavenagh open up about the future of the Lord of the Rings prequel.
“Because the quest just for her is dangerous for others.” “The rings will forever alter Middle-earth and all those that wear them.” It’s true that Galadriel has been striking out in The Rings of Power. “I think she’s got that in the back of her mind. It’s in the back of my mind as well.” Clark adds that she’s relieved Galadriel sacrifices her beloved dagger to aid the forging of the rings, because it’s been holding her back. The actress says Nori is secretly embarking on her own mission: To help the Harfoots find a permanent home. It’s been confirmed that the Harfoots are a predecessor to Tolkien’s more well-known diminutive creatures, Hobbits. Both Markella Kavenagh and Daniel Weyman tell Inverse that all of Middle-earth is open to their characters now. How will the fact that he’s taken this choice to walk a particular path change how he moves physically? Burrows (Sir Lenny Henry), the Harfoots again pack up and move, but Nori is advised to accompany the Stranger. With the loss of Mr.

We're not going to get anything in the way of a trailer just yet. Until then, feel free to thoroughly indulge in the glorious season one trailer above. The fate of the Harfoots is up in the air given that Nori (Markella Kavenagh) has separated from the trail to join Istar, Gandalf, The Stranger (what are we calling him?) on his quest to Rhûn. [The role has yet to be cast](https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a41563876/viggo-mortensen-dead-dont-hurt/) but the character should make an exciting addition given that this is the first live-action appearance Círdan will have had. "We want the shortest time possible between seasons, but we want to keep the bar just as high. Because let’s face it the ‘wizard’ they allude to in the finale is surely Gandalf the Grey. Which means Adar will have his hands full, so we expect the return of Joseph Mawle too. She’s got a lot of avenging to do and will certainly make Sauron pay for deceiving and manipulating her. Let's just say the finale fit a lot in, unmasking Sauron and revealing Gandalf – yet they still found the time to make some fancy jewellery to save the elven race.
The Rings Of Power's season 1 finale ends with a whimper, not a bang. Having abandoned the source material in every way possible, the show glosses over its ...
We could have waited to tell the story of Numenor until later—a story of the quest to cheat death, and the pride that cometh before the fall. - I am still reeling from the fact that they just made a show about the Rings of Power where they just tossed the Nine and the Seven out with the bathwater. But it’s comforting to know that the Rings Of Power and Mordor were all created within about a ten-day span! Oh, and in order to forge the rings they need gold and silver from Valinor. It was part of his plan—to get the elves to make those rings so that he could make the One Ring in secret and control all the others. They could have set this up in a much more convincing, surprising manner but they rushed it and hacked the source material to pieces in the process. None of the most basic elements of the forging of the actual Rings of Power is here at all. The line of kings died out a thousand years ago and somehow she didn’t know that and didn’t bother to do like ten more minutes of research at the Hall of Lore in Númenor. That line is, to anyone who knows anything about the actual story of the Rings of Power, a dead giveaway. (It’s still hilarious to me that at the beginning of this season Gil-Galad sends Galadriel away and declares it a ‘time of peace’ and just a few episodes later they have only months before the entire elvish race is doomed). A magician will distract you with his right hand so that you don’t notice what he’s doing with his left hand, but the creators of The Rings Of Power have proven to be less than gifted when it comes to magic. Well, we knew he needed something to control his powers and the staff is that thing, it appears, because a moment later he’s put out all the flames and is standing tall and speaking clearly.

The Rings of Power tried very hard to convince audiences the Stranger could be Sauron, and season 1's finale goes so far as to call him by that name.
Gandalf may be the first wizard to make land in Amazon's The Rings of Power, but others may be following behind him soon enough. The Stranger's "follow your nose" line is a pretty strong indicator that Daniel Weyman is portraying an earlier Gandalf in The Rings of Power. As a friend of the Harfoots, the Stranger already possesses a strong bond to nature, and that could instead point toward Middle-earth's resident Dr. Gandalf appearing in The Rings of Power would not be especially kind to J.R.R. Istari are slightly different to the Dark Lord in that they lose their memories and their powers are limited by the Valar but, in essence, the Istari and Sauron are kin... This would explain his instinct to investigate Rhûn in The Rings of Power season 2, since there's obviously a connection between the Dark Lord and the eastern realm of Men after the Dweller tried to lead who she thought was Sauron there. The line that alludes toward his identity comes at the very end of The Rings of Power episode 8 during a conversation with Nori, when the Stranger advises, "Always follow your nose." Throw in use of powerful magic, the desire to help Middle-earth, whispering spells to insects, and the fact that Gandalf is by far the most marketable character alive during The Rings of Power's Second Age era, and no one could say the signs weren't there. The Rings of Power tried very hard to convince audiences the Stranger could be Sauron, and season 1's finale goes so far as to call him by that name. Visually, the long gray hair and wild beard vaguely resemble Ian McKellen in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings movies, while the gray clothes provided by the Harfoots further add to his physical Gandalf-isms. Since The Rings of Power's very first episode, a veil of mystery has been cast over [Daniel Weyman's character, the Stranger](https://screenrant.com/lotr-rings-of-power-stranger-meteor-man-powers/). The Rings of Power showrunner has admitted that the season 2 needs “another couple years” before a release date can be set.
“There’s so much darkness in the world. “We wanted you to fall in love again with Middle-earth. So the first season is like Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight is the next movie, with Sauron maneuvering out in the open. We wanted you to understand and relate to the struggles that each of these characters are having before we test them in a way they’ve never been tested before. The Season 1 finale finally revealed that Sauron had been hiding in plain sight this whole time.
For The Rings of Power, the showrunners wanted to make Sauron "a character in his own right." "We filmed the first two episodes and then the show went on hiatus because of COVID. For Season 2, the writers are trying to make Sauron similar to villains like Walter White from Breaking Bad or Tony Soprano from The Sopranos. "We wanted to study the currents running within him in a way that hopefully would reward audiences as they follow him moving forward as he becomes The Dark Lord. Many viewers guessed that Halbrand was Sauron, but this was finally confirmed in the Season 1 finale. Amazon's The Rings of Power has concluded its first season, and the show went out with a bang.

The decision behind the switch is believed to be economical in that it’s cheaper to shoot in the UK. Amazon is also looking to establish a “multi-show hub” in London, where it will produce other shows as well. Despite these factors, the decision to move from New Zealand has faced some criticism. “Stuart Nash has shown a lack of interest in negotiating with Amazon, despite the huge impact the production could have on our economy,” McClay said. A show based on Tolkien’s appendices was perhaps always going to start with pacing wobbles, yet season one’s final leg felt like the fires of Mordor were finally erupting with life. These are all compelling plot points for The Rings of Power to run with for several more years, and if Payne and McKay continue to iron out the show’s handful of nagging issues, there’s a good chance it will. Then there’s Nori and Maybe Gandalf, who will continue to do their own thing in the largely unexplored realm of Rhûn — a perfect excuse for bold new production designs — while Númenor is poised for a coup courtesy of Pharazôn (Trystan Gravelle). Presenting Sauron as a three-dimensional villain falls outside the scope of the main Lord of the Rings narrative on the page and screen, but it’s firmly within The Rings of Power’s wheelhouse. This season has not been a deep character study of any of its characters, and has spent far too much time on tertiary and ultimately unimportant figures like Bronwyn and Theo to have been a real examination of Halbrand/Sauron (let alone Galadriel). Payne and Patrick McKay discuss the first season, the big reveal of Sauron in the season finale, and what to expect from the show’s arch-villain in Season 2. What I find remarkable about this statement is that the first season of The Rings Of Power relies almost entirely on surprises. He should have been a more heroic figure who the audience truly grew to love—if the plan was to trick us (and somehow Galadriel) into falling for him. Oh, and like the Joker from Christopher Nolan’s much-praised Batman movies, widely considered some of the best superhero movies ever made? What if we could get the audience to go through a similar journey?” You now know him as a person outside the name ‘Sauron.’ In some ways, we wanted to do an origin story for Sauron. He wants Satan to be so persuasive that he also seduces [the reader] and you’re unconsciously won over, so that you perceive your own fallenness and your need for redemption. We didn’t want to make a show that was about the hunt for Sauron, but we love the idea of Sauron as a deceiver who could, hopefully, deceive some of the audience”
Executive producer Lindsey Weber spoke to Deadline about what's to come in the sophomore season for Prime Video. Naturally, the discussion is full of spoilers.
Whatever the case, Cirdan won't be the only new character joining Rings of Power in Season 2 and beyond. What could “The Rings of Power” improve on in the seasons to come? Yet the creators also showed a strong command of that flash and grandeur, using it to frame a good story. Isildur has been a bigger factor in the plot, but given how important he is to the “Rings” saga as a whole, he too has yet to stand out from the sprawling cast. One of the flaws of this first “Rings of Power” season is that some key characters haven’t been developed enough to grab the audience’s attention. This episode also fulfills one of the main functions of a prequel, shading in some key details from “The Lord of the Rings” back story. In a moving sequence after the reveal, Sauron enters the elf’s mind, and corrupts her happy memories of her brother, intending to convince her that they have all had the same goal all along: a stable and peaceful Middle-earth. All of this happens before the opening credits, in a clever bit of narrative misdirection, intended to keep the audience from catching on too quickly that Halbrand is our Big Bad. Still, perhaps because of all the big revelations elsewhere in the episode, the action on the island in this finale was fairly forgettable. There is, as it happens, important new information about the Stranger this week, though it is something much more expected: He is, we learn, one of the Istari, or “wise ones,” or wizards. Tolkien dropped in both the text of “The Lord of the Rings” novels and in their extensive appendices. — it establishes a foundation for fresh conflicts in the next round of episodes. No matter how many new characters and locations the writers introduce, by the time the series reaches its intended end — after five seasons, if all goes according to plan — we will have witnessed the events that ended the Second Age of Middle-earth and led to Sauron’s all-controlling One Ring disappearing for thousands of years, before eventually landing in a hobbit’s pocket.
Clearly there is a lot of history between these two servants of Morgoth. When Halbrand and Galadriel captured Adar, Adar seemed not to recognize Halbrand as ...
He created another major problem in the process by revealing this metal and method of forging rings of power to none other than Sauron, but we all make mistakes. Even as she ascends to her queendom, she’ll only be able to rule as long as she has the loyalty of her subjects. Perhaps he will even encounter Halbrand/Sauron, who headed in that direction in the season one finale. It seems that the second season of The Rings of Power will be heading east to Rhûn, the lands where Sauron builds his army. We’re just at the beginning of that journey, though his adventures in the Southlands will probably play a major role in forming the man who he becomes. But that still leaves Isildur stuck in what is now Mordor at the beginning of season two. Returning to that pivotal Fellowship of the Rings scene in which Galadriel rejects the one ring offered by Frodo, perhaps power does play some role. Is she tempted by the power of the rings? We learn at the end of the first season that the Stranger is, indeed, a wizard. Is she worried she will be blamed for bringing Sauron into the land of the elves? (Not Sauron, as the three zealots who hunted him down assumed.) We also learn that he’s a “good” wizard, and he declares himself as such to the three witches before banishing them to the darkness. However, Season 2 of The Rings of Power is changing things up. The good news: The Rings of Power Season 2 is coming. [The Hollywood Reporter](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/the-rings-of-power-showrunners-interview-season-2-1235233124/) in October 2022, co-showrunner Patrick McKay said that he expects to be working on Season 2 for "another couple years," which means an optimistic guess on when The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 will hit Prime Video based on McKay's own words is the second half of 2024. We'll try to answer that question, and many more, including who will be in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2, what Season 2 will be about, and where Season 2 will be filmed. Prime Video set a multi-season goal for the series, and officially ordered a second season in November of 2020. Amazon acquired the rights to make a Lord of the Rings television show on Nov. So the first season is like Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight is the next movie, with Sauron maneuvering out in the open. It is coming, but you're probably wondering when The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 will be released. The Season 1 finale came and went without any more news of a Season 2 premiere date, but it did reveal Sauron's identity and gave fans more hints about who The Stranger is (he's a wizard!). Payne also gave a little more info on Sauron's journey in Season 2, comparing his arc to those of popular TV antiheroes Tony Soprano of The Sopranos and Walter White of Breaking Bad. The Season 1 finale of the Amazon Prime Video fantasy epic marked the end of the first chapter of one of television's grandest shows in history, both in terms of production and budget, but it left with a few tantalizing clues — the confirmation of who Sauron is and more hints of who The Stranger is — of what we can expect next.

Exclusive: The cast of The Rings of Power helps us break down the shocking season one finale.
(He’s the leader of a faction of elves who live on the western coast of Middle-earth who build the boats that sail to Valinor.) While the Elves have successfully crafted their three rings, that’s only a small portion of the 20 Rings of Power that will one day exist. He even promises to make her “stronger than the foundations of the earth,” a nice bit of foreshadowing Galadriel’s speech in Fellowship while rejecting the One Ring. (It’s Sauron, the answer is Sauron.) The three beings appear to hail from the East, the land where the Dark Lord will one day consolidate his power and whose residents, the Easterlings, will form a significant part of his army. We learn in the finale that Sauron asked her to join him as his queen in Mordor all the way back in the Second Age. Is this foreshadowing for the eventual rise of the Sauron-supporting Black Numenorean faction from the books? They’ve been following the Stranger, incorrectly assuming he’s some version of Sauron that doesn’t remember his own identity, and their slavish devotion to him feels like nothing so much as a cult. It’ll be with these rings that Sauron will attain that “power over flesh,” crafting the One Ring to bend all other ringbearers of Middle-earth to his will.
