Jackson gets his trade wish as another Demon joins GWS (AFL)

Luke Jackson has got his wish to join Fremantle after the Dockers secured a deal with Melbourne, with Toby Bedford landing at GWS.

It means the Demons could now be used for rival trades to help get deals done with their suite of selections, with Melbourne having in previous years climbed the draft board using pick swaps. "He's a young and exciting player with a lot of potential, and we look forward to watching him continue to grow and develop over the coming years." "We thank both Luke and Toby for their contribution and commitment to the club over a number of years. "We identified Toby as a player who could come in and add to our small-forward stocks, so we were thrilled he saw an opportunity at our club and pleased we could come to an agreement with Melbourne," GWS footy boss Jason McCartney said of Bedford. [Bedford requested a trade to GWS earlier this month](https://www.afl.com.au/news/853670/make-me-a-giant-demons-forward-requests-trade-to-gws), with his arrival at the Giants offsetting [the departure of Bobby Hill to Collingwood.](https://www.afl.com.au/news/854266/gws-giants-livewire-bobby-hill-becomes-a-collingwood-magpie) Pick 44 went the way of the Demons after they agreed to trade small forward Bedford to the Giants, and they passed it on to Fremantle in the Jackson deal.

He averaged nine and a half ground balls a game at under-18 level and there’s potential there for him to play as a big-bodied mid. I think ruck and forward is where he’s most proven be he even has ability as a centre half back. “This allows JL to play him where he thinks is most advantageous to the team. “He also showed as a junior at East Fremantle that he can go forward.
