LeBron James gushes over new Lakers hero Austin Reaves (ClutchPoints)

Austin Reaves put up impressive numbers during preseason and he drew a special mention from Lakers superstar LeBron James after the game.

A guy who plays extremely hard, plays well, doesn't make mistakes, always in the right place at the right time … A guy who plays extremely hard, plays well, doesn’t make mistakes, always in the right place at the right time… It’s not hard to envision Reaves taking a leap in the upcoming season, as he’s only 24 years of age. Always good to be on the floor with him. [Fit issues](https://clutchpoints.com/lakers-news-the-changes-russell-westbrook-is-making-to-fit-in-better-with-l-a-amid-trade-rumors/) with new acquisition Russell Westbrook plagued the team, in addition to an overall lack of quality players. In fact, Reaves even passed the vibe check with Lakers superstar LeBron James.

What have we learned in the Lakers' first two preseason games? (Silver Screen and Roll)

After a tumultuous off-season and living in the rumor mill, the Lakers are officially back on the court. Russell Westbrook is surprisingly still here and ...

He and James seemed to pick back up on the chemistry they built last year, finding each other on cuts or in transition. The team has made a concerted effort to have multiple players rebound and push, allowing Westbrook to fill the wing on a break. He showed why there was a debate over the summer on whether he should start. With the bevy of guards on the Lakers roster, new head coach Darvin Ham has implemented actions to have James off the ball. He has increased the number of possessions starting in the corner, that flow into dribble hand-offs or being a screener for one of the guards. He looked as physically imposing as ever, bouncing guys off him in transition and still getting to the basket at will.

Nunn notched 21 points (8-13 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds and an assist across 19 minutes in Wednesday's 119-115 exhibition loss to the Suns.

Patrick Beverley, Austin Reaves will start tonight for Lakers (Basketball Insiders)

Los Angeles Lakers guards Patrick Beverley and Austin Reaves will start tonight against the Timberwolves at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Always good to be on the floor with him. So far, the Lakers are 0-3 in the preseason. “A guy who plays extremely hard, plays well, doesn’t make mistakes, always in the right place at the right time — he plays extremely hard.” Quite a few fans were overcritical of the team last season. As for Reaves, he finished with 5 points, 1 assist, and 1 block in 20 minutes played off the bench. He shot 1-of-5 from the field and 1-of-3 from beyond the arc. A guy who plays extremely hard, plays well, doesn't make mistakes, always in the right place at the right time … However, Beverley ended his Wednesday outing with 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in 20 minutes of action. “He’s going to be a really, really valuable piece for us as we try to turn this thing around.” On Monday, in the Lakers’ 105-75 loss to the Sacramento Kings, Patrick Beverley finished his night with 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in 13 minutes played. Though, the 10-year veteran was rusty. Tonight’s matchup is the Lakers’ third preseason game on their schedule.
