Formula 1 technology in road cars: Part 1 | CarExpert (CarExpert)

Weight reduction works hand-in-hand with aerodynamics in maximising performance on the track. Formula 1 cars such as the Lotus 88 and McLaren MP4/1 ...

This is a fluid with suspended metal particles, that can change its viscosity (thickness) in response to an electric current, allowing the suspension to be stiffened. The results were clear, with the FW14B, driven by Nigel Mansell and Ricardo Patrese, winning 10 of the 16 Grand Prix in the 1992 F1 season. However, as an ostensible side effect, the fan also sucked air in to generate a substantial ground effect, helping driver Niki Lauda win the Swedish GP. Its success wasn’t due to just skilled drivers, however, with technological innovations also being a significant factor. Brabham’s BT46B made innovative use of another technology to maximise this ground effect, namely a fan. Performance vehicles such as the

Why Mini is one of the few brands ahead on electric cars in Australia ... (CarsGuide)

Mini, the small but ever-recognisable brand, is bucking a major trend in Australia. While some other manufacturers with a strong combustion presence are ...

Officially, Mini points to its Aceman concept revealed earlier in 2022 for clues on what to expect from the next-generation, and the spy shots out of China seem to confirm the car will inherit the Aceman’s more stripped back interior, with a bezel-free round floating screen, toggle switches, and a re-designed but familiar steering wheel. Obviously for Australia we will continue to have that right-hand drive synergy with the cars built there,” they said. The range isn’t as important for a car like this as it might be for other offers in the market. Not for Australia though, at least that’s what the brand’s local division expects. But when it comes to electric cars, in general you’re talking about a person more open to the technology.” they said. We’re far away from Germany, but it would be madness for any brand to say it doesn’t want to keep growing.

10 Of The Coolest Cars Used By The CarTrek Team (HotCars)

CarTrek is a YouTube series that started just before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in the US began and showcases Ed Bolian, Tyler Hoover, ...

Freddy resorted to buying it as anyone interested in the LS400 could only pay $1 for the car – and because he spent most of his budget on a Toyota Supra. As expected, it was a bit on the sketchy side of the spectrum. Interestingly, the CL65 AMG was the least broken car of the three and kept going until the end of the season. For the 6th season of CarTrek, the three presenters had to purchase three vehicles each to complete three different challenges. In the end, Tyler won the season as the Mercedes-Benz had the most depreciation and kept working the best. Ed drove the 599 everywhere he needed to go, and it completed every task asked of it – without major incident. During the cheap Ferrari season, Ed bought a relatively nice Ferrari 599 with most of the optional extras added to it. The best and scariest part of the show was watching Tyler trying to keep his Viper under control as the car doesn’t have traction control or ABS, plus the tires were ancient. As expected, this caused quite a lot of teasing and joking from the other two presenters. For Season 4, the three bought cheap Ferraris and were told to drive them for some distance. Still, he persevered and completed most of the challenges. It was a bit of a gamble for Ed, but it paid off.

The car brands with the longest warranties and capped-price ... (WhichCar)

Our newly updated list of vehicle warranties confirms that in most cases, the three-year warranty is history. If you're not getting at least a five-year ...

In typical unconventional fashion, Tesla is the only carmaker to actually decrease its general warranty period – from eight years and unlimited kilometres to four years and 80,000km. Corrosion and rust is covered through a 7 year, unlimited km warranty. Volvo Cars increased its term to five years in July 2020, but backdated it to apply to all vehicles registered from April 1, 2020. The Japanese luxury carmaker announced in November 2021 that it will be increasing its warranty from four years/100,000kms to five years and unlimited kilometres. Mazda followed Ford's lead by stretching its three years to five from August 1, 2018. Rust or perforation on all models is covered as part of a 7 year, unlimited kilometre warranty. The N Performance brand provides 5 years of corrosion coverage, while other vehicles in the Hyundai range are "per vehicle usage type" according to Hyundai's Service Warranty Passport. Corrosion is included in a 5 year guarantee for paint and bodywork. Roadside assistance is also provided for 5 years, and capped price servicing is available on the first five services. The warranty period of six years up to 150,000km otherwise remained unchanged apart from some components (ie 12-volt aux battery and charging cable) being covered for 12 months. Capped-price servicing plans are available on new cars for periods of five and seven years at 75,000km and 105,000km respectively. It also offers seven years capped-price servicing, which is subject to conditions depending on certain models or types of engines.
