Trump's the butt of a joke, but might still have the last laugh (Aljazeera.com)

Last week, American talk show hosts had a field day with Donald Trump, ridiculing his claim to FOX News that he had the right to keep classified government ...

And even if he does not run, a younger, smarter and possibly more capable heir like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is impatiently waiting in the wings. Ideas that are rooted in the thinking of the likes of the 20th-century Italian philosopher Julius Evola. Ideas that metastasised into Italian fascism and into today’s European far-right ideologies, including that of the Brothers of Italy, the party that won Sunday’s parliamentary elections. Despite his impeachment, not once but twice, and despite him losing the 2020 incumbency, Trump’s brand has remained strong around the world. Despite the former US president’s personal failings and the ongoing legal investigations against him, Trump’s populist brand is making headway, both nationally and internationally.

I come to you today with good news and bad news for Donald Trump's most loyal supporters. The good news is that liberals have stopped comparing him to Adolf ...

I don’t like a whole bunch of things about Trump — from his dishonesty and his out-of-control ego, all the way to his That’s because a lot of liberals see anyone on “the other side” not simply as wrong or misguided, but as terminally stupid, even dangerous. Columnists are granted a lot of leeway in what they write — and that’s how it should be. And now [she’s telling us](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/24/opinion/putin-trump-ukraine.html?smid=fb-nytopinion&smtyp=cur) why Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are two of a kind: “Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, long entwined, continue on vile parallel paths: They would rather destroy their countries than admit they have lost.” [corrupt Joker](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/09/opinion/sunday/trump-capitol-attack.html)” and said he was “evil.” She has said he’s the “ [Kardashian](https://www.thewrap.com/maureen-dowd-calls-donald-trump-the-kardashian-of-politics-video/)” of the political world because of his ability to attract attention. To do so isn’t a sign of thoughtfulness. “They have each created a scrim of lies to justify lunatic personal ambition,” Dowd tells us. It’s a sign of laziness. This supposed insight, linking the former president to the tyrant who invaded a neighboring country, comes not from some fringe left-wing website or from the faculty lounge of a progressive institution of higher learning, where you can’t get tenure unless you hate Donald Trump. The good news is that liberals have stopped comparing him to Adolf Hitler.
