Joel Selwood has received the 2022 Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award for his dedication to community engagement.
In its eleventh year, the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award recognises the values of the late former Melbourne Hall of Fame champion and Club President, Jim Stynes. Public in nature, the Jim Stynes Foundation is a Public Ancillary Fund (PuAF) that distributes funds to worthy and specifically chosen registered charities. In addition Selwood is a champion for inclusion and played a key role in launching the AFL Barwon region Access All-Abilities Auskick Clinics last November. Selwood has helped empower primary school-aged children in the region to lead healthy, active lifestyles, with an additional focus on mental health and wellbeing. Selwood contributed over 20 hours of official community commitments delivery the clubโs GHMBA Health Heroes program and embraced his role as a lead ambassador. From the beginning of his career, 16 years ago, Selwood prioritized showing up for his community and has not stopped since.
Selwood's tireless community work has been rewarded at Sunday night's Brownlow Medal count.
