Rockstar could accidentally confirm the validity of the said leak should it decide to take down the videos in question, a mistake often repeated by many trigger-happy developers. Then again, it could also be an instance of Rockstar optimizing GTA 6 for older hardware. It’s easy to imagine that it’s going to be pretty excellent after a lot more work and polishing. In the footage the woman is named Lucia, and the man is named Jason. It’s easy to imagine this will escalate into Rockstar trying to track this hacker down and bring them to legal justice, but we’ll see how successful they’ll be in that pursuit. For now, though, it seems safe to say that we know where GTA 6 will take place, when it will take place, and who it will star (at least initially). While it’s a little sad to learn that GTA 6 won’t take us back in time (at least for the soundtrack’s sake), it makes sense that Rockstar wouldn’t want to give up the many modern conveniences a more modern time period offers (cell phones, the internet, etc.). Furthermore, it seems that the leaked footage and screenshots represent either a work-in-progress version of GTA 6 or an even older version of the game. Not only do many of the background locations certainly look like Vice City (palm trees, beaches, etc.), but at one point, we actually see a character board a “Vice City Metro” train. Furthermore, I won’t be directly sharing links to the pieces of leaked media in question. That all changed a little earlier today when one of the biggest leaks in video game history seemingly gave the world their first look at an in-progress build of GTA 6.

Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay videos and source code have been leaked after a hacker allegedly breached Rockstar Game's Slack server and Confluence wiki.

These takedown demands lend further validity to the fact that the leaked GTA 6 videos are real. In addition, some of the videos contain voiced conversations between the protagonist and other NPCs. The hacker claims to have stolen "GTA 5 and 6 source code and assets, GTA 6 testing build," but is trying to extort Rockstar Games to prevent further data from being released.
