GoPro's Hero 11 Black is a Great Reintroduction to the Outdoors (Gizmodo Australia)

GoPro's Hero 11 Black is here, bringing with it not just a generational tech upgrade, but also new features like auto-highlight reels, which make.

If that sounds too costly, you can also opt for the Hero 11 Black Mini, which is a new model that costs $AU499.95 less than the standard version but lacks displays. That’s exactly the same pricing scheme that the GoPro Hero 10 Black uses, so if you’ve not bought into GoPro yet, then this is the version to opt for. To test the GoPro Hero 11 Black, GoPro had me film from the sky, sea, and land. I took my sea footage in a speedboat circling around the coast of Manhattan, and while the vistas aren’t as stunning, the stability is perhaps more impressive here. Most of what’s new in the Hero 11 Black appeals to a casual audience, while most of the hardcore tech specs are identical to the Hero 10 Black’s. I did have my GoPro on a Volta gimbal while shooting, but I doubt that alone would explain the difference I saw here. Here’s a video I took with my iPhone 11 on the same flight, for comparison. My GoPro Hero 11 Black came with a USB C-A cable, and adapters for connecting it to various accessories. I can see that auto-highlights feature being of genuine use to plenty of the folks in that audience, though. The light pollution here is too intense for the latter, and traffic is as unpredictable as it is abundant for the former. I wasn’t too much of a fan of taking photos with the GoPro, but given that much of the camera’s appeal is the peace of mind that it’s passively capturing what you’re seeing, I acknowledge the appeal. I’ve got little experience with cameras, aside from the ones that spy on you from the top of your monitor, but that may make me the perfect candidate to give these new Hero 11 Black features a hands-on.

That video is somehow coming up soon (somehow…), where I detail the key differences to the Hero 11 Black. After all, there were some space (and cost) savings to be made, with fitting it into a smaller form factor and a lower price. The video has YouTube chapters in it to easily navigate around, though, you can hit any of the quick-links to send you right to the applicable section. Then, atop that they announced the new GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini. But till that gets finished, you can hit play above, which is packed full of comparison footage (even to the new DJI Action 3 camera, also released today). While I finish editing that (and the DJI Action 3 Video, and XYZ, and ZYX, and…), here’s a quick teaser pic. Again, that video is on the way, and then a full in-depth review later in October (when the rest of the sports tech world will have hopefully calmed down a bit). As always, there’s a slate of new features including a wider digital lens option, faster frame rates for certain resolutions, a bigger sensor, and plenty more practical features like (optionally) automatically clearing off the SD card once it finishes uploading to the GoPro Cloud. It’s not quite as small as the old GoPro Session was, but it’s a gazillion times more powerful. Today GoPro announces not one, but two new action cameras. All of which I’ve detailed below.

GoPro Hero 11 Black review: the same but different (T3)

The GoPro Hero 11 Black is here – we've tested it, and this is what we think.

The GoPro Hero 11 Black is in many ways the ultimate in incremental evolution. That said, there’s certainly an argument that gentle upgrades ruffle fewer feathers, and ease of use has - if anything - been improved to widen the GoPro Hero 11 Black’s appeal - it’s easy enough for anyone to use, tech-savvy or not. As an upgrade for existing GoPro Hero 10 Black owners it’s an unlikely shout - it’s not that much better - but as an upgrade for earlier model owners it’s a good one to go for. GoPro have taken this fact a logical step further in the GoPro Hero 11 Black, grading the settings into ‘easy’ (the default when you power the unit on), and ‘Pro’, which allows you to unlock presets that let you choose the best settings for your shot (Standard, Activity, Cinematic, Slo-Mo and more), plus the ability to fine-tune all modes, settings and features. Indeed, apart from the new ‘11’ gracing the side of the unit, the two are indistinguishable - the only visual difference being that the GoPro Hero 11 Black’s rear LED appears to be white when off, rather than the darker grey/black of the GoPro Hero 10 Black - not much of a big deal. There are some limits on the tool at the moment (no burst or 360 for example), but as an easy way to enjoy an algorithmically-curated set of video moments it’s no bad idea - indeed, Google’s Photos already does a similar job on Android devices, as does Apple with the iPhone’s Memories feature. There are a host of benefits to having a new sensor under the hood, not least that the colour palette is considerably boosted - up to 10-bit. GoPro are calling this extended battery life ‘Enduro’, and as it has been achieved without physically increasing the battery capacity, there must have been some significant optimisations possible over the older software, unless it’s all down to underclocking that new sensor. The first key change is a new sensor, which is upgraded to a 1/1.9” Sensor. Speaking of which, the new battery (which is rated identically), has a small change - sporting a white surround rather than the GoPro Hero 10 Black’s blue. [GoPro Hero 10 Black](https://www.t3.com/reviews/gopro-hero-10-black), which itself delivered an incremental upgrade to the previous model. Will it shoot effortlessly to the top of the

GoPro Hero 11 Black review: the TikTok-ready action cam (Digital Camera World)

A new 8:7 sensor and more powerful software plus added simplicity make GoPro's Hero 11 Black a champion action cam.

The Hero 10 Black is still a great package for anyone who doesn't need an 8:7 sensor, and it's still on sale alongside the 11 Black. The Hero 11 Black upgrades the 23.6MP sensor introduced on the Hero 9 Black, boosting it to a higher 27MP resolution, with a 1/1.9-inch size, and blowing it up to an 8:7 aspect ratio. The Hero 11 Black's 8:7 aspect ratio is also a standout highlight for content creators. The Hero 11 Black improves heat management when compared to last year's Hero 10 Black, especially when the camera launched. Given the fact battery life was a weak point of the Hero 10 Black, the new battery does help things along, but it isn't quite a game changer. But how does it stack up to the DJI Osmo Action 3, and is the Hero 11 Black a worthy upgrade if you're coming from a The new GoPro Hero 11 Black also brings back excellent connections too. Swipe up to pull up the media on your memory card, and pull down to access the camera’s settings. We have to say, the DJI mounting system on the Action 2 and 3, which combines magnets and clamps is quicker and easier in a pinch. You can't talk about GoPro without mentioning the brand's HyperSmooth stabilization, and for version 5.0, GoPro's introduced 360º Horizon Locking at up to 5.3K for the first time in a Hero Black camera. [Hero 10 Black](https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/reviews/gopro-hero-10-review) (opens in new tab), the Hero 11 brings back a virtually identical design, which means full support for all your old GoPro accessories. Other than insignia on the Hero 11 Black's side, the latest GoPro looks identical to last year's model.

First look: GoPro Hero 11 Black cameras “most powerful yet” (Executive Traveller)

Good things often come in threes. Case in point is the trio of GoPro Hero11 Black cameras – each ready to capture your travels in rich and vibrant detail.

Users with a GoPro subscription (AU$69.00/yr) can automatically backup photos and videos at the “original source quality” to the cloud simply by plugging the camera into charge. A larger 1/1.9” sensor across all Hero11 models means they’re capable of shooting 10-bit colour video up to 5.3K resolution at 60 frames per second and taking 27 megapixel stills. The Hero11 Black is available in Australia at $649.95 for GoPro subscribers and $799.95 for non-subscribers, while the Black Creator Edition retails at $929.95 for subscribers and $1099.95 for non. Why is 8:7 a big deal? The Creator Edition comes with the standard Hero11 Black in the box, with the addition of a directional microphone, external mic input, and HDMI port for connecting to external displays, plus a high-output LED light and two cold shoe mounts for mounting accessories. Random 20 Tech – GoPro Hero 11 Black Review (Hot 91.1)

The latest GoPro Hero 11 Black has just dropped and the big question everyone is asking is just how much better than last year's GoPro Hero 10 Black can it be? The answer is very complicated, as it has lots of improvements, but I would say “a subtle ...

The additional features to make it easier for new users to pick one up and start using it straight away with no prior knowledge are extremely well thought out and implemented while the hardware updates are enough to make you want to upgrade if you have an 8 or 9 but might not be enough if you currently use a 10. It’s really simple to jump into settings and get full control of the details via “Pro Mode” but as a solution for the novice, it’s really clever. I use the media mod pretty exclusively when I need to change the battery or SD card on a shoot, I need to unplug the mic I have plugged in, unscrew the device from the tripod, close the feet grips into the camera then take the camera out of the media mod. GoPro are extremely excited about a new “Automatic Highlight Videos” feature in the Quik App when your footage is uploaded to the cloud, and with good reason, it’s got really clever AI that takes your videos and turns them into a really interesting edit ready-made to upload to your social channels. For example, I think if you had a GoPro 8 or 9 they are very comparable, but then the jump to the 10 was extremely significant with the introduction of the front screen and the new G2 chip. This and the brilliant HyperSmooth stabilization feature which is now at 5.0 really make the accessories like gimbals a thing of the past as it’s all built into the camera.

GoPro Hero 11 Black Turns it All the Way Up for Creators (Man of Many)

Currently, Instagram reels are limited to 1080p x 1920p resolution, so filming in anything higher means your videos will be compressed (and likely ruined) in ...

Finally, GoPro has answered our calls for more battery life with an Enduro Battery that dramatically improves camera performance in cold and moderate temperatures, extending recording times up to 38 per cent in HERO11 Black. As we’ve fallen down the creator path and picked up other filming devices along the way, [such as drones](https://manofmany.com/tech/dji-mini-3-pro-review), there’s one thing we really wanted from the Hero 10 Black and that’s 10-bit colour. The most notable change will arrive when you turn the camera on its side and shoot in the Instagram and TikTok-friendly 9:16 or 16:9 aspect ratio. The answer is to jump into Adobe Premiere and import your 4K videos before exporting them out with a few neat compression settings at 1080p x 1920p resolution, however, a thing called 10-bit colour is the real game changer in the creator process. [GoPro](https://manofmany.com/tag/gopro) release every single year, but with the launch of GoPro’s Hero 11 Black camera we were a little unsure at what the brand could muster from its top-selling action camera turned vlogger legend.
