Queen's death: Day-by-day guide to what happens until Elizabeth ... (Sky News)

The Queen will lie in state in Westminster Hall for about four days before her funeral, allowing members of the public to file past and pay their respects.

The Queen's state funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey in central London, after which the Queen's coffin will be taken to Windsor for a committal. The coffin will rest in the cathedral, and members of the public can pay their respects. On Tuesday 13 September at 5pm, a hearse will take the coffin to Edinburgh airport arriving at 6pm. "This is a separate crown to the one she was crowned in," Bruce said. Following the tradition of the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, and the Duke of Edinburgh, it is expected the family will follow behind the coffin. The coffin will arrive at the Palace of Westminster at 3pm where the Archbishop of Canterbury will conduct a short service. A rehearsal for the procession of the coffin to the Palace of Westminster is expected to take place. At 2.22pm, it will be taken in procession by gun carriage from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster, with the King and other royals, as well as staff from the royal household walking behind. The Imperial State Crown and a wreath of flowers will be placed on top of the coffin. The state hearse will take the Queen's coffin to Buckingham Palace, where it will be placed in the centre of the ballroom to give members of the royal household the chance to pay their respects. The King and Queen Consort along with other members of the Royal Family will be there and prayers will be conducted. A service will be held in St Giles' and the Queen's children are expected to stage a vigil around the Queen's coffin, known as the Vigil of the Princes.

The Queen's Death: How to watch the Queen's funeral in London ... (MyLondon)

On September 8, Buckingham Palace announced the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In a notice placed on the palace gates, the Royal Family wrote: ...

It will be broadcast on the BBC and will be available on BBC iPlayer too. [According to reports](https://www.mylondon.news/news/uk-world-news/queens-funeral-date-set-monday-24970802), it's believed [Her Majesty](https://www.mylondon.news/all-about/the-queen)'s funeral will be held on Monday September 19. "As you would expect, a number of organisations will now be making practical preparations including contingency planning for the state funeral and related events. According to [TimeOut](https://www.timeout.com/london/news/when-is-the-queens-funeral-how-can-i-attend-and-where-is-the-procession-090822), the day will start at 9am when Big Ben will chime. Further details will be made available shortly." The public won't be able to attend the funeral itself. The Queen’s final resting place will be the King George VI memorial chapel, an annex to the main chapel at Windsor Castle. There, members of the public will be able to pay their respects. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow." Her mother and father are also buried there, along the ashes of of her sister, Princess Margaret. We expect large crowds, which can pose risks to public safety. The funeral will also air live on TV.
