MCU: 9 Most Likely Marvel Casting Reveals at D23 (X-Men ... (The Direct)

But who else could be in line to shock the world at D23 for Marvel Studios? The Direct has come up with 9 of the most likely characters that could be cast at ...

The X-Men will likely be something that Marvel waits to introduce for a few years, especially if rumors about a complicated contract situation with Fox are to be believed. This villain could be one of the MCU's biggest villains in history, and he's also one that may arrive sooner than many are expecting. She most likely wouldn't be the only member of the Fantastic Four introduced, but the rumors have hinted that Marvel is gearing up to introduce the actress for Sue this weekend. Johnny is literally and figuratively one of the hottest fan casts in the came, which would make for a fiery announcement at D23. [Marvel is developing a movie or show centered around Nova](https://thedirect.com/article/nova-project-in-development-marvel-studios), one of the comics' biggest cosmic heroes. The Fantastic Four are arguably the group of MCU characters that have been a part of the most fan-casts yet thanks to their transition from 20th Century Fox to their Phase 6 solo movie. ["one of the greatest MCU characters of all time"](https://thedirect.com/article/mcu-marvel-guardians-holiday-special-characters) as part of its arrival on Disney+. [Anthony Ramos was announced as part of the cast of Marvel Studios' Ironheart](https://thedirect.com/article/iron-man-disney-ironheart-hamilton-anthony-ramos) in February, bringing an increasingly popular young star into the Marvel Universe. This role could be one that Marvel wants to get a head-start on before Blade's production gets underway, especially with the movie still more than a year away. [Gael Garcia Bernal was first attached to this role in November 2021](https://thedirect.com/article/marvel-mcu-disney-plus-coco-werewolf-project), with no official announcement coming from Marvel Studios in nearly a year since then. But who else could be in line to shock the world at D23 for Marvel Studios? Now, the focus is expected to be on more specific news about these upcoming projects, especially with at least nine confirmed movies and seven seasons of Disney+ programming on the way.

As it turns out, his film is actually a prequel that tells the story of Mufasa’s rise to power, appropriately titled “Mufasa: The Lion King.” Jenkins spoke about his passion for the original film and his desire to tell the “origin story of one of the greatest kings in the history of the pridelands” while sending a message about the power of friendship. And if that wasn’t enough, they wowed the crowd by revealing the full clip of Ariel singing “Part of Your World” from the new film. After the success of “Pete’s Dragon,” “The Green Knight” director David Lowery returns to the Disney stable to adapt another beloved animated film. The cast of characters investigating the mansion eventually find a hidden seance room (after Wilson accidentally breaks a wall sconce that he thought was a lever), and fans were treated to glimpses of the paranormal entities that haunt the house (including Leto’s Hatbox Ghost). The annual Disney/Pixar showcase has kicked off in California, featuring early looks at live action and animation films hoping for box office domination.

If Disney can inspire nostalgia for its own classics while breaking new ground with Wish, it will be following a path the studio has not always stayed true to with its current, seemingly endless program of live action remakes of classic animated fare. A smiling Jennifer Lee, chief creative officer of Disney Animation Studio, took to the stage to reveal new details about the upcoming Disney+ series Iwaju, previously described as a “mash-up” between the Hollywood company and Africa’s Kugali studio. The movie, which uses a watercolour-style look harking back to the studio’s early films, is also expected to feature a cavalcade of Disney Easter Eggs in celebration of the studio’s garlanded history. The studio rounded off its panel by wheeling out Amy Poehler to announce that Inside Out 2 is going into production for a summer 2024 release. The studio already looks to have another hit on its hands with Rob Marshall’s The Little Mermaid, if section featuring Halle Bailey as the new Ariel was anything to go by. Amy Adams turned up to remind us all how unexpectedly wonderful 2007’s Enchanted was, a perfect Disney Live action piece that played on the animation classics Snow White and Sleeping Beauty without ever plundering them for easy thrills.

Disney and Marvel unveiled a number of exciting updates and announcements about upcoming video games at their D23 panel.

The turn-based Marvel RPG from the creators of XCOM, Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been in the works for quite some time and got to showcase a brand-new bit of gameplay, showing that this will be a game with a heavy focus on tactics and outsmarting the enemy AI as opposed to pure brawn. A new CG trailer shows that Red Hulk is entering the fray of the popular mobile RPG, Marvel Strike Force. In addition to a top-secret Star Wars project, Ubisoft is working on an open-world game set in the Avatar universe. The title seems to imply that this is a spiritual successor to Mickey’s Castle of Illusion, the cult classic NES title which also happens to be a 2D platformer. It is being developed by Bithell games and is planned to release in 2023, with the promise of a brand new setting, puzzle-based gameplay, and a visual novel-style storyline where the player will make crucial decisions. The Marvels, Loki Season 2, Echo and Ironheart Were All Unveiled ... (Gizmodo)

Read about the first footage from all of them, as well as new footage from Ant-Man 3 and Secret Invasion.

Captain Marvel is now in the house with them and she tells Monica not to call her that because she used to change her diapers. “But where’s my daughter?” Monica says she’s wherever Captain Marvel just was, and that’s when we see Kamala on a spaceship with Goose the Flerken. It’s this moment where we see the scene of Captain Marvel in Kamala’s room, all of which is set to “Intergalactic” by the Beastie Boys. Kamala then asks “Are we a team?” and Monica and Carol say no. There’s a fight at a festival, on top of a train, on a motorcycle, and a character gives her a bunch of grenades. Greene’s character gives Maya (Cox) a new piece for her prosthetic leg and says that the symbol on it stand for “warrior.” We see Echo sneak into some kind of dance club, switch off the lights and turn the music way up. Then, Loki says something to the effect of he’s the baddest man in the universe. Loki explains that “war is on the way” as we see a shot of several versions of him (not variants, as they all look exactly the same) standing together. As he walks around, he keeps phasing in and out, almost like Ghost in Ant-Man and the Wasp. This is all over montages of fighting in a computer lab, her fixing a bomb, quick shots of her armor, and then a line: “I want to build something like him,” she says. Scott is obviously surprised by that question and Kang says “They all blur together after a while.” “But, you know, better.” It ended with a silhouette shot of her in the armor.

From Fantastic Four to Deadpool: The Unanswered Marvel and ... (Den of Geek)

Marvel Studios brought footage, a few big MCU announcements and more to Disney's D23 Expo. But there are still lots of unanswered questions.

Plus it makes a whole lot of sense considering the time-and-multiverse-destroying antics we expect big bad Kang to get up to in short order. A Phase 6 release slot would make the most sense, but that means Cretton is going to be awfully busy if he directs both Shang-Chi 2 and The Kang Dynasty. [Variety](https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/ben-kingsley-trevor-slattery-wonder-man-marvel-disney-plus-1235338010/) reported that Ben Kingsley would return as Trevor Slattery on the show, but we still don’t even know who’s playing Wonder Man/Simon Williams yet. 3, 2023) for Marvel’s Blade reboot at Comic-Con, there is a director (Bassim Tariq) and partial cast (Mahershala Ali, Delroy Lindo, and Aaron Pierre) in place, and the movie is slated to begin shooting in October. Well, that didn’t happen, and in fact, there was no mention of the Merc with a Mouth at all. Unconfirmed reports have production beginning in January 2023, so as with other titles on this list, it’s no surprise that there’s no further news yet. The series starring WandaVision villain Agatha Harkness got a title change (from House of Harkness) and a tentative premiere date (winter 2023) at Comic-Con, with Kathryn Hahn returning of course as the title witch and WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer taking on the same duties for this one. Speculation was flying thick and fast that the cast of But another seemingly inevitable project from Cretton was missing at D23 too… So perhaps until there is enough footage for a teaser or sizzle reel, it was unrealistic to assume anything new would be unveiled at D23. With Shakman presumably just closing his deal, let’s be realistic: there’s no way a cast would be in place yet.
