The CGI is better than many of The Imperfects’ contemporaries, even if it shares the same dour tone, and there’s a certain chintzy charm to the whole endeavor that some might even say is increased by the odd overblown moments in acting, dialogue, and the story turns. Some of this commentary is a bit obvious – the banshee is the lead singer in a band, for instance – but it goes to some intriguing places. They offer a certain charm and relatability; a reminder of what it felt like to be at that crossroads in your life when you leave the regimentation of education behind and have to find your way in the big, wide world.

THE IMPERFECTS on Netflix is a new genre-hybrid series. We're talking sci-fi, fantasy, action, drama, and some horror. Season 1 Review >
The story for The Imperfects comes from Kim Garland, who is also a screenwriter on the series. And the Banshee is a singer. She’s sassy but kind and has a very personal stake in all of this as well. She previously worked as a writer on the new Chucky TV series. THE IMPERFECTS on Netflix is a new genre-hybrid series. Sydney Burke is the perfect combination of heart and snark. When I first saw the PR images from this Netflix series, I thought the core cast consisted of a group of teenagers. To be specific, they turn into a Banshee, a Chupacabra (not a werewolf), and a Succubus. Well, that and the fact that episode 1 really is very strong and lays out the perfect groundwork for many storylines. Continue reading our The Imperfects season 1 review below. As with all genre productions that work really well, The Imperfects features some very interesting characters. Read our The Imperfects season 1 review here!

Watch Abbi, Juan, and Tilda fight monsters (both inner and the ones outside) in The Imperfects on Netflix.
Till the end, the story is quite predictable and doesn’t bring anything jaw-breaking to the table. Tilda, who is a banshee, is ironically the lead singer in a band and Abbi, a succubus, is asexual. The ensuing mystery heightens every episode of The Imperfects, and an overarching narrative is also carried forward to the end. It reminds the viewer of all things down the line X-Men, The Runaways, Deadly Class, and The Umbrella Academy. The series quickly touches upon a lot of pre-existing lore around comics and superheroes till the end. And just like that, Netflix decided to drop yet another merry (maybe not so merry) group of young adults in our laps with The Imperfects.
